TPMS move from OEM rims to non-OEM

I did many searches and don't find definitive answers, and close answers were really old so I have to ask...

I have a 2018 330i sedan on order. I want to buy new rims, same size. Can I have the installer remove the old TPMS and put on the new set of rims? Then when I turn the lease in I'd have to swap back to OEM rims and bring the TPMS sensors with them.

Doable? I read something about just needing to make sure the rubber seal or something is good, so maybe I just need a seal not a full sensor?

Thoughts?

yes its doable. Many have done it. the tire shop will probably charge you for a TPMS rebuild kit but thats about all thats needed. then just reset the TPMS after verifying your tire pressures. you can also buy aftermarket TPMS for around $180 and not have to do this (unless you are swapping tires too)

Id recommend buying new tires, tpms with the wheels and then you have an already new set of tires already mounted to the stocks you can just turn back in at the end instead of trying to fit a set of tires for lease return. Then if you move to another bmw that has the same frequency you can just put the wheels on and be done

sidenote. love your 330i build. I have the same combo in my 335

Yes it's possible.

Had the TPMS's from my OEM 396 and F 225/45/18 R 235/45/18 swapped over to my AG M359 with F 245/35/19 R 275/30/19 and it works properly.

My tire shop didn't charge me for the TPMS swap only for the tires, but this could vary with tire shop.

thanks

yeah, I had to get some cool combo to make me think I'm not missing my F36.. I f'ing love that car.

I gotta think about the tires situation, this lease I used factory tires through 20K miles, then I bought 80-90% treadlife (used tires) for $350 for all 4 6 months before my lease was up. So very cost effective!

cool thanks! maybe if they were really old I'd need new rubber or whatever to rebuild/reinstall TMPS
