Which color is easier to keep clean?

Jet black or Black Sapphire? It is worth the extra $550 for the color since both are black?
Tell me about your experience.

..........

UPDATE

Tomorrow I will have give my BMW deler the FINAL down payment and it will be my LAST chance to do any changes

BTW this is an Euro Delivery

What I have in order:
2013 335i
Jet Blk
Blk interior
Red strip on the dash
Black height gloss trim
Nav
Cold Pkg

...........

Simple change
Pay $550 extra and get the metallic blk

............

HUGE CHANGE

Get M Sport
Blue
" I don't like the M 18" rims, in New England 19" are out of the question"
" I'm not in love with silver trim"
" Will that blue get old?"
" if I keep the car for 5 years do I get at least 1K back?"
" Do you think that for a blk car person that blue can get old after 2 years?"
" no, blk and M sport.... I rather stay with my sport line and get the M bumper later for about $400, that what the E90 cost today"

Just too many questions... I'm already going the extra mile and getting the 335 instead of 328 and NAV as I CANNOT regrate later.

2013 BMW X3  [5.66]
From Experience, On dark colors, especially blacks you will see swirl marks everywhere no matter how you clean it.

On white and lighter colors, it will be tough to maintain especially the Alpine White.

The best chance with low maintenance is the color Silver

Any Black is a PITA. Flat Black is the pits.

I got my EBII car washed by my BMW Dealership today FOC! It had not been washed for 5 months, that is since new! It still looked pretty clean. Wonderful colour.

The washing process took 3 hours and had to be performed in accordance to BMW's requirements. It was a production process. Each stage had to be checked and passed. Incredible QC. Most impressed. Delghted with the result. Cleaner now than when new!

Bsm hides swirls and dirt a little better than jb. Both are a pita to maintain though. My next one will definately be silver/grey.

I've had 3 Black BMWs in a row so hopefully I can help (1 BSM, 2 Jet Black). Either color basically requires the same maintenance so I personally wouldn't pay the extra money for the metallic. You should expect your car to show any signs of "dirt" at all times... I live in south FL so my car is either covered in pollen from trees or water spots from the rain. I just give the car a weekly wash and it looks pretty good most of the time. Black is definitely not a low maintenance color like silver but nothing looks better than a freshly washed black Beemer!

BSM is by far easier than jet black. My E92 was BSM and my wife's G37 is a non-metallic black and it is by far the most difficult color I have ever owned. Even after a good wash the hard water in Phoenix leaves spots

Good Question, I had a Jet Black E90 and I drove myself crazy washing it. As much as I love black cars, I doubt I will ever get one again. I'm not a neat freak, and I loved the way my car looked, but.... with black I could see every little swirl and streak. It drove me crazy. I was at the car wash each week trying to keep it clean. Now I have a white F30, and keeping it clean is easier and far more tolerable.

Don’t spend the extra money on a special black, but rather save your money for the car wash. You won’t notice the difference anyway.

Either way you'll love the car. Enjoy.

I find Alpin White very easy to maintain. I was ok with my silver previous car too.

*I want no more dark color ever.*

I had a metalic black previously, it get dirty 10 minutes after you clean it, so I got a white one now, the situation got much much better,
if you live in a dusty area try to avoid dark colors, they look very nice once cleaned then in one day you have it look dirty again

I have a black sapphire X3 and and a jet black F30. I've owned the X3 for about a year and the F30 for about 4 months. The swirls show a lot less on the X3. I wash them both at same time and the X3 seems to keep its shine much longer.
Looking at both cars side by side, I find that black sapphire looks better than jet black. I regret not getting black sapphire for my F30.

Well, if you are an optimist, you want to know what color is easier to keep clean. A pessimist wants to know what color is easy to match and repair after an accident.

I choose the latter. Sapphire black is easily matched during repair. Jet black, not so much.

Since the Jet Black is a solid color, it should be easier to fix small imperfections in the paint compared to a metallic paint.

I tough that jet black was the best color to match, I guess that I was wrong.

I would love to have a black car, but the problem is that when you wash it and you dry it from back to front, by the time you get to the front, the back is dirty again.

I had a metallic silver car once. It his dirt incredibly well, but on the other hand, you could spend 3h washing and waxing it and you'd have no idea. It pretty much seemed to look the same clean or dirty.

My last 2 have been alpine white and while they get dirty, they at least look clean when they are clean and don't look bad when they are only mildly dirty.

I owned e92 BSM, e92 JB and f30 JB. JB looks purest after detail...it's a nightmare to keep clean.

That being said, little trick I learned is to dry JB with a electric leaf blower!
$29 at your local hardware store.

Micro water spots can be removed with microfiber cloth and QD.

Enjoy.

Just went to my dealer today, I cannot longer do any changes on my car since it is already in production :-(

So I will have a JET BLK for a long time... I like the color and it is hard to keep clear and I knew./
