I got in an accident

I'm happy everyone in the car didn't get hurt.

I was driving down 45mph when a Ford Focus pulled in front of me from a yield turn signal.

All airbags deployed, couldn't shift to neutral. Is this car totaled? Is it even worth fixing if insurance will cover expenses?

Sorry to hear it, but glad nobody was injured. It doesn't look good for your car - I'd say totaled.

All airbags deployed = almost guaranteed to be totaled out. Best of luck with it all.

Sorry to hear OP but as you and others mentioned, glad no one was hurt! No one here can confirm 100% but sometimes, it's pretty obvious when details along with good pics are provided. All airbags on top of that damage? Sorry mate but she's done and gone to BMW heaven. (or hell if she was a bitch, lol)

Some A-hole already sideswiped me a few months back and unfortunately for me, the car was able to be repaired for just under 10k.

Happy to hear no one hurt, time to start car shopping as I'm pretty sure your BMW gave it's life for you. Might be a good excuse to get yourself a B58?

You need to take time and get yourself checked out before you tell insurance etc that no one was hurt. Sometimes it takes time to realize things are messed up. I would get xrays/MRI asap. You dont want to find yourself with a bunch of doctor bills months or years down the line because your neck/back are all out of wack.

Looks like you were hit very hard by the pictures...

Best of luck, id get a lawyer if I were you. I am going through a case now when my Jetta was totaled and I am very happy I lawyer'd up..

Solid advice. I tell my clients this all the time, on top of having unfortunately experienced it myself.

If you haven't already had the car moved to a body shop Call your local dealer and ask them for the name of a BMW certified body shop. They should give you and honest evaluation of the cost to repair.

The first estimate from the insurance was $4500, however once the BMW shop got it apart the estimate Was $18000 in damage. To my shock they fixed it... I know, don't get me started. They used all BMW parts and did everything by the book. Anyhow if they decide it's not totaled a good BMW shop will make it right and not cut corners. They did a stellar job and the car is like new again, regardless if it's $2000 or $20,000 there is diminished value, working to get that settled now.

As far as medical I highly recommend you and everyone in your vehicle go see a doctor ASAP. Hope you don't have any injuries but it's worth checking.

This is so awful, but everyone lived through it without any serious injury, so it's a win overall.

No idea what insurance will say, but ALL airbags might push it over the edge to being totaled. I wish you the best of luck going forward!

I am positive this is a total loss. That is some serious damage. It is good to know no one was hurt though.

thank goodness for safety features! it's a gonner though. you wouldn't want it back anyway...yeesh!
recommendation - unless it's a lease (or if you have a loan with GAP coverage) you'll likely have to fight over how much they pay you on the car. They will always low ball you. Don't forget to itemize every thing you've put into the car, including recent repair/maintenance, tint, add ons, everything. Since it's not your fault their insurance company should make you 100% whole again.

Likely but not always, a friend leased a new E Class this February, MSRP was in mid 60s i believe. She got into an accident 4 weeks later. Front of the car is badly damaged, air bags went off. As of now estimate is around 24K and insurance company is fixing it. Hopefully they will find more damage, but from what i understand they already took the car apart, so everything should be known.

Glad everyone is okay. Yep, there's no doubt this will be a total loss. Time to start shopping.

Neither post stated 100% total. Stated almost always.

A car 4 weeks old falls into what is known as an outlier.

Actually I am rather surprised the BMW did not sub stain more damage if you hit the Focus at 45 mph.

Total loss for sure, I went 10mph into the back of an escape and mine was totaled. Geico didn't rip me on the cars appraisal either

Did the other driver not see you? What did they say about why they pulled out like that?

I often wonder what these people are thinking who pull out in traffic with oncoming traffic very near
