Catted downpipe with MPPK and MPE

Hi guys,

I am thinking of getting a catted downpipe and am wondering if it is worth the gains if I only have MPPK and MPE.

I do not want an aftermarket tune and hopping the dp doesn't throw a cel.

Anybody have this setup? And what do you recommend?

I just had the ar design catted installed yesterday on my 235, I absolutely love it. I was concerned about smell and there is zero increase in snell over stock. Sound and power is a different story. I find it considerably increased exhaust volume, coupled with the mpe it's definitely loud and gurgly if you want it to be. Definitely noticed power increase as well.

edit: i misread, you said catted.

You will get a CEL.

If you add a JB4 on top of your MPPK, MPE and DP you be doing yourself a HUGE favor in terms of sound and performance and it'll take care of your CEL at the same time.

You will get gains with high flow catted vs your stock DP but it wont be as noticeable unless you upgrade your tune as well.

Youll first notice your car isnt struggling to vrooooom any more, to describe it...before the aftermarket DP your car should feel like a marathon runner who smokes by that I mean its fast but feels sluggish and under performing once you change out the stock DP your car will feel like a Ultra marathon runner at the Olympics.

DP with the JB4 a must!..........MUST!

Probably close to 70-80 over stock with JB4, downpipes.

Oh yeah, I feel like its so much less restricted. When you rev, it loves it, less hesitation. Can't wait for my JB4 to come...

http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtop...5104&start=135
Sootyvrs (author of v box babybmw forum thread above ) had mpe, jb4 stg2 and HFC DP and wider tyres than me. I have Quaife LSD. An LSD (Quaife or MP LSD) will help wrt standing start traction issues.

My 0-100 times with map6 are low to mid 9's. Jb4 stg2 and HFC DP gets you to m4 levels of performance....

Not useless, it will change and increase the exhaust note and allow the turbo to spool up quicker but you're losing out on a lot of potential hp and torque that a tune would get you in combo with a DP. You will also gave a cel on you dash unless you get a jb4 to clear it.

Yep, i hate cel thing, is there have any DP has no Engine light issue at all without the tuner?

From what I read you will gain (at the crank) circa 8hp and 15nm without a tune. In combination with a tune I would estimate 20hp and 30nm can be had more than without a downpipe. The difference between catless and highflow metallic cat should be minor. These numbers are not accurate by any means, but just to give you an idea.

Ya the BMS CanFlap Module can clear the light for you. A lot of the F80 guys run like this.
