Blackberry's are the only ones that will allow you to view email AFAIK.

The rest of the crowd will should allow SMS to be displayed. Streaming music from a phone is pointless IMO given the degraded sound quality (I prefer lossless or a CD).

I use a GS3 for personal use and a WinMo Omnia 7 is given to my by my office. The GS3 pairs flawlessly and doesn't have any issues, whereas on the other hand the SO7 doesn't like to pair consistently. In my E82 the SO7 resulted in people not hearing me well either, so I assume it's BT radio is a bit on the light side or my unit is faulty. Either way, I've found the world doesn't end if I can't take a work call right that moment and can always call them back. Strange really...

Used a Sony Xperia Arc previously to the GS3 and again, it worked flawlessly with a number of different BMW's.

Use what you want and or like. Now, what phone is best supported currently by BMW? That is easy, they only make an iPhone adapter, and their is a usb connection in the armrest for the iPhone. So, either use what you want, or buy an iPhone for best integration since BMW directly supports it.

Correct -- it's an iPhone if you want maximum integration.

But you should think hard about what "maximum integration" delivers. The design of the integration is so freakin' brain dead (and expensive to get) that it has me wishing I hadn't assumed I would like it.

I love this car -- I mean it's just a brilliant mechanical device. But the smartphone integration reminds me of iDrive v1.
