Which dealer fees are legit when dealing on invoice?

Which dealer fees are legit and what are more or less negotiable when dealing on invoice? I know there are;

Shipping fees - fixed
Advertising fees - ?
Training fees - ?
doc fees - ?

Any others?

Thanks for the help

Training fees are also fixed-$180
Doc fees, that varies from dealer to dealer and is negotiable.
About advertising fees, I am not sure. Some members have reported they were charged and some like me were not charged.

Many manufacturers DO charge a fixed advertising fee. I'm not certain about BMW though. Doc fees are generally in the $100 - $150 range in my experience.

I think that goes for dealerships owned directly by BMWNA and not franchised owners or vice versa. I read this somewhere before.

Can someone kindly tell me what "training fees" are? For them to train me on the use of the car?

My 328i will be delivered (a transfer) next week and I'm trying to get my ducks in a row. Salesman told me there are no dealer fees.

Normally they charge a $180 training fee. I believe it's for the manufacturer to train the sales people on selling BMW vehicles. I think this is a small fee which shows up on BMWconfig.com so it's not a big deal.

The advertising fee though, known as MACO, varies. Some dealerships don't pay it if they do not participate. However, most dealerships in SoCal do.

I've noticed that some dealerships will wipe this cost off no problem. Others, they sneek it into the Invoice price. Just depends on how good a deal you can get. I think they should eat this cost since most dealerships are willing if you are getting the car anything over invoice. One dealership tried to charge $400+ for it.

Thanks for the info -- it helped since I just brought home my first BMW tonight. Sure enough, the training fees and MACO ($400) were on there. I didn't complain since I was paying invoice and everything went so smoothly. Best car buying experience of my life -- no tricks, pushiness, or B.S. other than this MACO crap, but I left happy... And holy crap! There's a BMW in my garage!!
