Not feeling the Grille in Sport Line...
Really like the grill in the modern line, makes the face of the car look less squished. I would go ahead and get a Modern Line but the interior color choices are just hideous (dark oyster). And I just love the sports line interior too much.
Does anyone know if its still possible to change the sport line grill to a modern line grill after purchase? ie I order the modern line grill and have someone (or myself) change it. What got my attention to the grill is the pics of that real life modern line spotted in amsterdam. The car looks soo much more aggressive with that color and shape modern line grill than the sport line one. I mean just look how aggressive this bad boy looks http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=610990 Also the non-black grill gives the metallic black 3er a nice contrast instead of both the car and the grill being black which makes the car look dull. Sigh, first world problems lol |

Interesting. The grill on the Sport Line is probably my favorite style feature of that line over the others. I love the reduced # of slats and the dark color. To me it looks more aggressive than the other grills.
Regarding the grill swap-out question, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to if you want. I suppose it's possible the entire front bumper might have to be swapped as well, but I doubt that. |

When you guts say you like it too, which are you referring to? Sport line grill or modern line grill?
Also, anyone else know if the grills are interchangeable?

I like the sportline grill, especially since my car will be mineral grey(which is dark) the dar grill will look real nice.

As for interchangeable grills? I'm sure that they could be. Whether or not I think it's worth swapping them out is another story. It'll be your car so take a good look at the layout first. |

I too like the grill on the modern car over the sport grill. BMW has always put the black slats on the lower engine cars and the chrome or silver grills on the higher power cars. This is true with the E90, E60, F10, X3, X5 and Z4s to name a few.
So to me, the black grill looks like you bought the smallest engine car. If I ever have the Sport F30, I will swap out the grills or have one painted. I just think it looks more expensive. The other option might be to paint the Sport grill black all around including the chrome ring. I think that looks pretty nice also. I can't imagine that the F30 grills won't be interchangeable. That would probably translate to too much cost on BMW production lines.

If i do end up changing the grill, id probably change the part under the grill from black to chrome as well (not sure what this part is called but its a thin bar on the front and back bumpers which is chrome in modern line but black in sport line)

I actually had the black 11-slat modern line innards and put it into the Black M-Perf frame for a bit. It had a more classy look to it. When I switched it back to the angular 8-slater it looked so much more mean and geometric. I'm on matte black now that makes it even more industrial and beefy IMHO.

You just have to purchase the grilles you want. I'm sure the dealership will install it for you for a fee, but it is pretty easy to do yourself. Swapped mine out for m-sport grilles no problem. There's a DIY thread somewhere on here that shows you how
