Silly... they compared a really low cdi model mercedes against the 335d... they should of used a 328 or used the c400 mercedes and an s4.
2 slow slow slow 4 bangers against a 335... of course that drove better lol |

I am not wild about Audi. They are complex mechanically and expensive to repair out of warranty. Mercedes currently has the highest customer satisfaction of any car brand in the US. They must be doing something right. However, if my 1'er suddenly disappeared, I probably would not be in the market for any of these models.

I do agree though the A4's base 2.0L TDI is weak when pitted against the the 330d, but they didn't specify if they compared the C250cdi, C300cdi which would be comparable to the 328d and the 330d respectively. Last edited by v1k1ng01; 08-28-2014 at 05:52 PM.. |

As they pointed out almost immediately, while the cars were in different trim, they were comparing the lines as a whole. Also, that was a 330d (254 HP), not the 335d (309 HP). Similar engine, yes, but slightly down on power. Still a far more powerful unit than the 2.0L diesel in the 320d (181 HP), but they didn't rate the BMW highest because it had the best acceleration, they rated it highest because of a combination of factors, including the fact that it offers the best driver-focused car.

I like me that Baby S Class Benz...
The W205 is very, very high on my next car list....
Blasphemy I know...But outside of M235i or M3, their aint much under a 6 series that BMW offers that interests me much anymore..

I was pretty amazed to hear that they prefer the manual in the Audi to the BMW. I absolutely hate Audi manuals with their garbage linkage.

There is consistency in the complaints about engine noise and subpar transmission. Not the best review to base anything on but still, 1-0 is not a bad start for the 3er

that merc interior is stunning.
bmw really skimped out with their interior this generation... hard pressed to see how anything got nicer in the 3 and 4 range from the generations preceding. that c class interior though... oh my lord.

Nothing larger than 3 series interests me (~4600lb for a 650i... WTF ) in the BMW lineup And the new C class has a nice interior but a lot of weight. If I went MB, it would need to be AMG since the non AMG have nice interiors but low performance. Hurray for choice eh ? |

A local automotive chain has a location near where I work so I get most of my servicing done by them. I was talking to the manager, who has worked at several dealerships, and he said he would not recommend buying a used Audi, because once they are out of warranty, the repair costs add up.
