Hi, I am trying to buy a N26 engine for my 2014 328i from a private seller, but it happens to be pulled from a 2017 320i. Is that possible?

Does anybody know if the N26 comes in two different power ratings just like N20?

Or is it possible that the previous owner may have replaced the N20 180HP engine with a 240 HP N26 ? is it possible at all ?

The label on the engine pulled from the 320i says: N26 F22
Also the block has metal writing N26B20A

Post a picture of the engine tag(s).

2017 320i did not come equipped with the N26 engine variant.

Here it is. No idea how did it end up in a 320i

N26 only came in 28i models (241 hp).

I see no reason this engine wouldn't work for you but definitely consult the person who will be doing the install. The fact that it was successfully swapped into a 320i already is proof alone. Pretty tough to assess the condition and mileage after multiple swaps tho. At the very worst, you may need to swap certain accessories or electronics from your current motor.

you got a great point that the miles on the motor will be hard to guess. I was initially impressed with it, because the car had only 30k miles and the motor was priced right, but since this motor is definitely did not come with the car, it could have 200k miles, who knows. I think I am going to pass this one, but I appreciate your time and thoughts on this!
