any chance you have some of that oil left? send it to blackstone labs for them to analyse asap.

Increased oil consumption lately?

It will be really hard to tell exactly what it is coming from without running some lab tests on it. But usually an easy 'old school' test is to run a magnet across the filter medium if you still have the filter. If no shavings stick to the magnet, chances are those particles are from a bearing. If bunch of shavings stick to the magnet, it could be the cams or cylinder wear.

I second the above suggestion, if you still have the oil and it was put into a previously unused container you can still send it to Blackstone.

+1 on the analysis. Knowing what metal that is could identify the source.
