Which is the correct foglight for this car?

I'm getting conflicting info - I'm helping a friend with her 2014 328i xdrive which needs a driver's side foglight replaced (the front lens cracked). The last seven of her vin are NS08808. If I enter that on the realoem site, It shows a vehicle code of 3B53 while other vin decoders show 3B57. The issue though, is that when I browse parts and find the foglight, it says 63177248911 is the right part number. If I click on that, it lists the cars that part fits in and it shows just ones built after 9/2014 and hers was built prior. My dealer thinks that 63177248911 is the correct part for her car but I want to be sure. Thanks

Who's buying / replacing it? If it's the dealer, try asking for a loaner car while they figure it out. If they order the wrong one, well, it's on them to try and figure out which one is the right one and in the meantime just enjoy the loaner.

I'm going to do it for her - it looks like a straightforward job. The dealer wants over $200 for the part but it's $76 on oembimmerparts

On the ecstuning site, that foglight fits the N20 engine cars but doesn't have the N26 engine cars listed. Is there a difference in the fog lights between the N20 and N26 F30? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/63177248911/

I would just inspect the connectors if you can. Pre-lci and lci front bumpers are the same are they not? (Base, msport and mperformance). Highly doubt that there was much change in the fog light area for the face-lift. There was no design issues there that I know of.

In either case you can also confirm by the part numbers of the controller for the fogs for a gauge on systems compatability (getting them to work) and the fog grille part numbers for physical compatiblility. No changes there and I would be comfortable enough to order them.

You can always return them if it's an issue l, as well.

I'd rather just check once and replace once it's opened up. I'd need to jack it up remove a wheel, remove the inside liner...

Her car is NOT an F30 LCI, but a normal F30. As you noted, hers was built prior to 9/2014 when LCI builds were initiated.

You are looking at the wrong line/model.

The part number 63177248911 is correct.

You can find a non-OEM part new for as low as $20 if you search “BMW 63177248911“ on eBay.

IK6SPEED - you're correct. For some reason I didn't see her model listed, just the later model. Case closed, and thanks guys!

3B53 is the type code for German builds, and 3B57 is the type code for South African builds. Both identify the North American-specification F30 328xi, pre-LCI, N26 engine. Her car is a South African build (the serial beginning with N also tells you this), and the VIN would have 3B5G in it, but the parts list would be the same as used on German builds.

When two type codes line up this closely, realoem dumps you into the first one, even if you entered the serial correctly.

That’s definitely correct.
