H&R Sport Springs Question

Hi all, I have a question for those that have put H&R sport springs on their F30 335i. Has anyone with this setup driven around with 4 passengers in the car and if so have you experienced any rubbing? I should specify that I have a sport line model with the stock 18's and don't plan on changing the rim/tire setup. Again, I'm looking at putting on the Sport Spring, not Super Sport. I'm new to putting springs on a car so not sure if I'd need anything else other than the H&R springs or if those are all I'd need to install. I've done some research but couldn't find any info on this. If anyone can give some feedback from experience on this it would be great. Thanks.

It's a good question and I'm wondering about it too, especially with the H&R Sport Springs and the adaptive suspension.

from the looks of it there shouldnt be any rubbing. take a look at this post http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=757168 it's also a sport line on H&R Sport springs...

Im wondering about the H&R Super Sport with the stock 18" sport rims. I want the gap smaller. but afraid it might be too low to the ground with 18s...

I've taken 5 in my car on H&R Sport Springs and there was no rubbing. They were all pretty thin though.

I've got a more agressive setup with H&R Sport Springs.

With four people there is no rubbing. However, I am very careful on speed bumps to make sure I dont hit the fender.

All in all, I'm very happy with everything and the quality of the ride.

There were none available. But yes. I would recommend a strut swap too. H&R Sports on the stock struts ride a little better than poop.

So you're saying the ride sucks?

Actually... it depends. If you have a 328i, the ride shouldn't suck too badly. But if you have a 335i, it will kinda suck. It's not unbearable. But I don't agree with some people's opinion that "it should've come from the factory like this" or "it rides just like stock!", because it doesn't.

Gotcha. I've lowered all of my vehicles on springs, coilovers or bags so I'm familiar with what to expect. I have to say that the 335 w/ Adaptive Suspension doesn't really have a great ride to begin with. I just expected more of a plush feeling from a BMW.

no complaints on ride quality...it's better compared to my E90 with BMW perf. suspension anyways...the EDC probably plays a big part in that though

...granted it doesn't feel as planted as my E90 did

You guys are freaking me out.
I'm considering the M Perf Suspension as an alternative...the base model has a real floaty suspension...

If you just want a minimal drop, then go with the M Perf. But I think by the time they're available, there will be aftermarket spring/strut combos available.

The H&Rs are NOT bad springs at all. It's just the combination of the H&Rs and stock struts that ruin the balance of everything. The stock struts just aren't calibrated for the stiffness and height of the H&Rs so it just bounces around on every bump and groove in the road. When a good set of matching struts become available, that combo would be the way to go.

Again, on the 328i, the springs will feel much nicer than on a 335i. If you look at all the pics of F30s (in the USA) lowered on H&Rs, the 328s are way higher than the 335s due to the smaller/lighter engine. This will allow more shock travel so that the strut can actually do it's job.... well, at least part of it since there is still a compromise. With the H&Rs on a 335i, you barely get any shock travel room. So it inherently becomes "bouncy" and you bottom out a lot faster.

The bounce wasn't too bad for me at first. It's definitely bearable. But it eventually got to me like Chinese Water Torture. Eventually, the repetitive consistent bounce drove me crazy. It came to a head when I was driving on the freeway in the fast lane one night. I could see my xenon headlight cut-off very clearly on the concrete median. It was comical and embarrassing how bouncy the car was. It literally looked like all the honda owners in the 90s that just cut their springs (I know because I was one of those).

Probably funniest post I've read on the forums so far! And I hear ya, let's see what my dealer can "do" for me on M Perf, if they do indeed have them instock, they're honoring a 20% coupon for purchase/install, which makes it "a little more reasonable" for me.

H&R might be too aggressive for me since the car is my DD, I don't want it to be as bad as my Evo VIII was...towards the end, I was on Nexium because the 120 miles a day commute exposed my stomach, apparently, to too much acid reflux. I felt like such a pu$$y.
