F36 Spacers, Springs and M Performance bits
I'm thinking about modding the F36 xDrive with spacers, springs and possibly M Performance bits.
I'd be interested in feedback on spacer sizes - I'm looking at 10/12 or 12/15 options (I have 403 19" wheels), and those that have used Eibach springs - particularly on xDrive variants. If you can share any pictures before /after etc. with any of the parts fitted that would be really appreciated, particularly M bits! I'm aware there are plenty threads and photos on the site but the search function (unless someone can educate me) doesn't seem that selective on the F36 xDrive and it's a nightmare trawling through all the saloon stuff. Thanks in advance! |

Go for 12 MM front & 15MM rear they fill the arches really nice.
ACS Springs are a popular choice, but be very careful if you have an M Performance Splitter, you catch it on speed bumps etc... without Springs. Mine has 12mm front spacers & 15mm tear spacers & full M Performance Kit. (Standard Springs) Hope this helps

These look nice, they give a very purposeful look to the car.
Are these spacers available for the F30/31 if running ACS springs as well? And any warranty issues with fitting these? |

Any spacers that work for one F3x type will work for another.

I tried combinations of 10/12 front and 12/15 rear spacers today.
The 12 front pushes the tyres well outside of the arch. May be xDrive makes a difference, I don't know. However it seems 10 front 12 rear is the way to go for me. |

Thanks to all those that posted. I can only guess xDrive is different in some way as I ended up with 10mm front and 12mm rear spacers.

Mine is also an xdrive so i think it's more about the wheel/tyre combo. My 20" 405Ms with Pirellis and 12/15mm spacers look like they protrude less than yours on 10/12s

No it under steered more, then normal driving it just wanted to tram line everywhere
I had them on for a month and when I took them off it felt like I was driving a proper car again My car deffo handled better without spacers, doubts at all and was a much nicer car to drive day-to-day

I've just installed 10/12mm spacers on my 440i with 20" 405M's. I can't imagine going wider really as the wheels would definitely stick out.
Not noticed any difference in handling, but I love the look - hard to photograph.

Now fitted Eibach Springs to the 430d X.
Springs were £120 and fitting inc. alignment was £320. Before and after pics below (note - I've lightened the photos to try and give more clarity to the dark wheel arches) The springs have lowered the car approx 20mm all round. Early days but the car feels more planted in the corners with less body roll. On bumps, the ride is far smoother. It feels like the car absorbs the bumps much better. It's not jaring or harsh on bumps either just very smooth. One observation - On the rear wheels, where I fitted 12mm spacers, after the lowering the rear wheels look very slightly inside the arches whereas before they were flush. It's very very close but for those thinking about springs and spacers I'd recommend you fit the springs first. Last edited by Nobby Clark; 03-22-2018 at 05:30 PM.. |
