2014 320i pricing - is $30k a good deal?

I am shopping for a 320i for my wife. A dealer has offered the following:

2014 320i sedan 8AT
A96 Alpine White
KCSW Black Sensatec Leatherette
ZSP Sport Package
ZDA Driver Assistance Package

MSRP (per Edmunds): $35,925
Invoice (per Edmunds): $33,105
Gross Sales Price: $34,210
Minus factory build-out cash: $1,000
Minus USAA/military bonus: $1,500
Minus college graduate bonus: $1,000

Net Sales Price: $30,710

Is this a good deal? Or should I expect the gross price before the factory rebate ("build out cash") to be closer to invoice?

No, you can do better. Selling price should be closer (if not at) 32,075. You should be able to get 10%+ off MSRP of a 2014 at this point.

Also, what's with the gross sales price? How is the dealer getting from 33,105 to 34,210?

Thanks for the input! I will go back for more. I do have other, better offers at this point, after a day of hunting.

Re: "how did you get to x?" invoice was not discussed and this is not a negotiated price. It's just the salesman's first offer which looked good relative to TrueCar, so I wanted to know whether to keep pushing.

I looked at TrueCar for 2014's and consistently see 10-12% off of MSRP.

Invoice won't matter in this situation, as we are getting to a "fair" selling price by dividing MSRP by the % off above.

My main concern is the "gross selling price" may include dealer profit that they are screwing you on, so I want you to figure out what is the difference between the "selling price" and "gross selling price". It's probably fees, so find out EXACTLY what they are. Dealers mask profits by labeling them "dealer fees", sometimes.

To be clear, "gross selling prices" was my terminology. That isn't how the dealer presented the offer. They said it was $30,710, but I wanted to back out the temporary and personal sales incentives that I qualify for, to allow comparability.

I see, so "Gross Selling Price" is the "selling price" (price the vehicle will be sold at before incentives).

Definitely get that down to below invoice, if not further per my calculation above.

We ended up buying a little bit different car, for a better price:

2014 320i sedan 8AT
Melbourne Red
Black Sensatec Leatherette
Sport Package
Heated Seats

MSRP (per Edmunds): $36,025
Invoice (per Edmunds): $33,195
Sales Price: $32,200 minus $1,500 USAA rebate = $30,700

(In the end, we couldn't combine the USAA and college rebates.)

Good for you, that's almost 12% off of MSRP, which is where I'd expect 2014's to sell for now that 2015's are hitting dealer inventory.

Congrats and I hope you enjoy!
