Hippo hide to be replaced .... Now replaced perfectly.

Well, gave my car to my Dealership to replace under warranty the front passenger seat base cover as it has developed a massive bald patch.
I do, do hope that they will not damage any trim.

Car will be ready for collection on Thursday.

Was it suddenly bald?

Good luck, although I can't imagine them damaging anything... Even if they should, they'll have put it right....

The rest is perfect. No, it was bald from the word go and I got fed up looking at it.

Was really surprised that they would replace it under warranty.

What I have been told is that the new cover will need to settle in as BMW fit the leather in a steamy environment. Which means it will look like sh!t.

I'll take it to Auto Audio and they will tighten it with their heat gun, or I'll do it myselft with a steam iron.

Have you got an image of the bald patch? With Dakota the surface is dotty and rough, I take it by a Blad patch, the surface is pretty flat and soft?

I went to pick up my 335 from the dealer after 3 weeks and someone must have opened a door on it pretty hard, so now it has a large dent in the front wing!! And there I was worried they might damage the inside changing parts.
Lucky for me they’re taking it back in part exchange for a 435 so they only damaged their own car!

Just had a call from the Service Advisor. All going very well. Car inside all taped up. Seat out and being re-covered very carefully. Should be ready for 12 noon if all goes well.

Gave the car in yesterday at 4pm so that they could start early. Well, yesterday the part of West London where I live was like a car park as there was a fatal accident on the A4. Took me an hour to get to the Dealership, a journey which normally takes no more than 15mins.

Today, there was another fatal accident right in front of the Dealership on the A4 and the road was closed until 11am. There was chaos it seems trying to get the cars in for Service etc.

Tomorrow is another day and hopefully no fatal accidents.

It doesn't look that bad at all, in fact it's pretty common I've seen many(dakota leather) seats like this in brand new cars when I was at BMW. Different part of the seats have various cuts of leather some softer, some grainier. I've had driver seat cover replaced on my previous E90 due to heavy scratches and didn't look right afterwards it was just too wrinkly and creased and also they managed to scratch some of the interior trims.

The picture is lying! As I said previously, it is much, much worse now as the bald patch is spreading. Even the Warranty Manager thought it was pretty bad.

Lordy me, you are quick at replying!!
Berry BMW Chiswick are probably the best Dealer I have ever dealt with. The Service Dept and Bodyshop are simply superb. All staff there are a cut above, IMO.
