F34 Driver window squeal and error code

Hi All,

Driver window squeals and sometimes stops working, seems to be a rubber squeal from trim, tried cleaning and spraying silicone but didnt help.

Also the noise DOES happen when the door is open (not obvious at the time of this video) so as its a frameless door it would mean the base trim is causing all that noise which doesn't seem likely as the window is quite free as shown at the start of the video.

Want to see if anyone else has had this issue and is it a new regulator needed or trim? I got the error code 030016 - drive deactivated due to excess temp. So guess the motor cuts out as a fail safe so it doesn't get burnt out when restricted?

(The door hasn't been hit or damaged in anyway)

VIDEO is posted here

Thanks
Rukp

Can't see the video. Whatever the problem is would likely be diagnosed by pulling the door card. The weatherstrip doesn't put enough pressure on the glass to cause it.

You're going to have to pull the door card to find it.

Thks - any idea what you would expect to see, regulator issue or motor? If you've seen this before? Just so I can get parts before hand..

All I can surmise is that something's not right in there.

UPDATE pulled the door card out and removed the window regulator was pretty brown and wires looked slightly crossed. Once you take the cover off, it's a PITA to reassemble as it's like a jack in the box!

Ended up replacing the regulator and all good.

If anyone does this on an F34, buy the window removal tool, near impossible to remove the window with pliers!

Have you noticed anything abnormal with window guides and other members of the lifting mechanism? Did any require to be greased up? The regulator being brown could be the result of it overheating while fighting the resistance of the lifting mechanism imho.

Nothing really, the browing was odd as its a steel cable there were no burn marks or fractures. Also the original motor was swapped and worked 100%. The codes thrown out did say the motor was stopped due to overheating, so before it burnt out.

Guides all OK and not bent
