Coding?

Hello folks,

Is anyone dong any coding in Sydney or near by?

I have been reading a lot about it and there are quite a few things I would like to do on the new car when it arrives. Not going to bother on the current one.

Thanks

H

Believe it or not I have just started doing this today. Still slowly working through it but it doesn't seem too hard.

Let us know what you code and would be good to have video tutorial from the master HFW003 ;-)

Kit required and codes used (i know there is a coding section) but keep the Aussie way would be great and helpful.

Is yours the new Navigation NPT or the CIC? I am sure my F31 Nav Pro is 609 NPT updated version when i get my car in late august/september.

cheers.

What, you want a southern cross to come up in your instrument cluster?

I know it would be good to have some Aussie guys coding. Because I know I won't be able to do it. I will be happy to pay someone to do it once they know how. Provided the price is reasonable

I am hardly the master mate, shan't be doing video tutorials, sorry. Seriously there is plenty of " how to" info in the coding section on this site as well as the other site.

I have been in touch with Shawn Sheridan on the other site and he IS the master! He has been a great help and has answered the few questions I had.

After having done it I'm not sure what all the fuss is about not being able to do it. It is very basic to do the actual "coding", once you plug your car into the laptop it is just a matter of changing the values, it is not difficult!

The hardest part is getting the actual E Sys program loaded onto your laptop and getting all the correct information into the correct folders and locations. If you know how to move folders around on a computer you can code, simple as that.

The cable cost me $20 and it is $50 US for the token and pin you will need, that's it.

My current vehicle has the CIC, not sure what the new one will have?

I have coded the following:

The pain in the ASS to last setting- this was really the only reason I wanted to do it.
Ringtone to be the same as my phone
Rear DRL's
Window roll up when the door is open
Mirror folds when turning the car off
Sport display

With saying all that I haven't actually checked it all worked as it was late last night when I finished.

Don't be worried guys it really is very easy to do and even if it gets wiped by a stealer at a service,it only takes about 10 minutes to do.

Take the plunge.

My biggest problem is we only have apple products in our house. So to do this my set up costs are pretty hefty. My car seems to have a lot of what people are coding. All I want is the display and the ASS to stay off.
I can't do remote coding because my Internet is 7 stories above my car lol

You can use Mac as a virtual machine, apparently?

You dont need Internet access in your car to code.

Problems solved!

Yes I did. From what I understand the new version requires individual set up and pin. It was $50 US.

Hey Guys,

I'm Sydney based and have had quite some success coding my F30. I made a cable myself and have the latest tokens etc.

- ASS settings
- Video in motion
- Disable stupid disclaimers
- Set door handle lights on when in Reverse (great at night if you have Top-View)
- M Performance logo in cluster

as well as various other stuff

Happy to help people out if they need something done. I'm not looking to make any money from anyone, although I will accept bribes of the alcoholic variety

PM me if I can help.

I'm going to ask the dealer to do a couple of things to my 328i before delivery. Can this include mirrors retracting on first touch when locking, does anyone know? And no, I'm not interested in a DIY solution.

This is what I do. I am using VMware Fusion with a Windows 7 x86 VM with E-Sys. Works extremely well and not had any problems at all.

Dealers cannot do coding. They can set the ASS behaviour changes but this is not done by coding like we do. They get an activation code (or something similar) from BMW AG and set it that way.

I see. Can they get rid of the Accept screen? - on my M5 I got software from DVD in Motion to fix that.

More than happy to supply any beverage that takes your fancy. My car keeps being delayed but I hope to have it Thursday

I'm not sure about that, but I don't think they can.
