I just found out the yes the Car is limited to 155 however there some instances where the governor would not kick in.

I thought mines was defective cause i went 150 going to orlando and my buddy told me it was limited to 130

If you are going to see tiesto this weekend you can try and hit 160mph or where ever the limiter decides to kick in.

What about the F30. If you have the all season tires do you still not get the second oil cooler?

What do you mean? What instances? It either kicks in at 130 all the time or it doesnt untill you reach 155?

Not in Turkey, no. I have driven my F30 3.20i at 230 kmph which is about 143mph. Catalog states the limit is at 231 kmph.

In Germany neither. We have the limit set to 250kmh (155mph) regardless of model or line. I tested this on the autobahn and the car accelerates nicely to that speed and is very stable and got good handling.

But you can't buy a BMW in Germany with all season tires. It's all summer performance tires with the necessary speed rating for 250kmh.

This is proprably the reason for the limit in the US. If the car goes over the tire limit and the tire blows, it would be a nightmare for the driver and BMW.

I have a 335 coming with all seasons but plan to get summer tires this summer.

Once I have summer tires with a speed rating for speeds higher than 130 how can I get the speed limiter removed?

Is this a simple coding thing that can be done with wire and laptop or something mechanical?

It's in the software. I doubt you'll get the dealer to change it, but often aftermarket tunes raise/eliminate the limits. I can't say for certain what will be possible with the F30.

Question, what are you trying to do? If you need higher than 132, you need after market programming.

Only if it came from the factory with W or higher rated tires.
