I just noticed in this thread the bars that cross behind the grille. Is that a structural support bars for the hood area of the vehicle??

Doesn't look like any air scoops would be aftermarketted for this model.

I can't get over way the screen looks, pop-up style from dashboard. I like 5er better, integrated with dashboard. I hate pop-up style screen.

My e46 has a nice upholstered panel up there, agreed, that looks cheap as hail...

Autocar also had close look at the new 3er.

An evening with the BMW 3-series

Spent an evening at BMW GB headquarters in Bracknell having a good nose around the new BMW 3-series. Any thoughts on the subjective nature of discussing the exterior styling were put to one side for the night (for what it’s worth, I’m a fan of the new 3’s looks…), with judging the new additions to the 3-series line-up and the interior quality and space on the agenda instead.

The general interior quality of all three pre-production models was excellent. There are soft touch materials in all the right places, and the front seats were high on comfort and adjustability. If it is possible to find a nice driving position without actually driving the car, this is something I achieved…

Of course, which distinct 3-series model a buyer picks will come down to personal taste, but of the three on show, the Sport is the one that really looks the part for me.

Looks like BMW went backwards from the E46 with the trunk hinges. Cost cutting measures, I suppose. Overall though seems like a great evolution of the 3-Series.

Yes they are support braces to the horizontal radiator support. The new X3 and the new 5 series have them as well. They stand out more in the X3 and the new 3 vs. the 5 series as the 5 has horizontal slats behind the grill and the vertical grill slats are slightly narrower, esp. vs. the X3. The ones in the new 3 seem fairly wide as well.

Looks great.
And regarding premium look, this F30 seats and interiour looks so much better than E90 imo.
In fact, both E60 and E90 wasn't very premium imo, this have been adressed in the new 1, 3 and 5 series imo.
Very good BMW!
Love what we're seeing!

The Z4 had them first, but you cant see them in everyday scenarios because of the angles and shadows.
