A few weekends ago me and a friend in his new G20 M340i decided to give the cars a quick clean & fit his private plate before heading out for a drive to Hartside Pass which isn't that far from where we live.
We went over Hartside then back up to the cafe then headed down into Alston then down to Middleton teesdale with a stop at Cow green reservoir on the way, the weather was ideal for a drive out. The M340i hasn't got 1k miles on yet so he wasn't fully opening it out. I'm super jealous of the Portimao Blue and the B48 engine, I need one in my life after seeing/hearing it. This is the first 'proper' drive out I've had in this car and I was super impressed with the M sport brakes, never faded once. Can't wait to replace the crap budget tyres with some Michelin's and get a spring/damper package on as the suspension is far too soft. Anyway enough waffling on here's some pictures.... |

I'm getting used to the face I think. In the blue on black, I think I could live with it. Still miss my EBII F30 for the colour...

I think that's the best you can do in terms of colour combination (G20 that is).
I was down London yesterday and saw loads of G20's, probably 5 or 6 different cars. I passed one following a F30 and I couldn't help but notice if you took the back end of the G20 (which is stunning on the road, gives it real presence even in basic trim) and the front end of the F30 you'd have a real looker. Cut and shut anyone? |

Nice scenery, looks like you were having a good time
Seen quite a few G20's out on the road and all have been blue or black so far. Still waiting to see one in Sunset Orange.

I saw one yesterday. Very very smart from the rear and probably the least garish from the front. The colour is that perfect balance between in your face orange and old man brown.

I think the chrome or cerium grilles are better with the G20 the black just looks too "pig with lipstick on" especially on a lighter coloured car.

Yes, I thought the photo Alex posted of the G21 M340i in Tanzanite Blue looked great (and that had the cerium grey grille if I recall correctly).

Yep, G20 M340i is Xdrive in the UK. US gets a choice of Xdrive or RWD I believe.

If the 'bezel' around the G20 grille was colour coded, I wonder if that would make it stand out less? (Need someone with Photoshop skills).

Looks like a good drive out.

I think I do prefer it, too much black otherwise.

Yeah it'll be one of the first he got it on the 30th of September, he was initially going to have to wait until November but a one with the spec he wanted was available but it had 1 option on it he didn't specify so they discounted it from the price.

I have yet to see the cerium grey grills on one as all the M340i's I've seen have had the all black bits on but I think it's hard to beat IMO, this one pictured just doesn't look as good. Maybe have grey/silver wheels would break the black up a bit.

I agree - looks a major improvement. I can imagine quite a few of us doing this! We could even paint the section of grille above the crease line to make it the size it should have been in the first place. |
