Update NBT EVO Q to X or newer

I'm looking to update my firmware from Q to X or newer, but I'm not finding any info on where to find the update files and software or any guides. Is it possible to do this myself with an enet obd cable and laptop?

Yes,just search on how to flash using esys. It's possible to use enet cable. Just use latest psdzdata, not sure which latest version it will be but psdzdata 4.35 was Nbtevo_Y

You can try this guide and instead of KOMBI, HU_CIC, just carry out the steps for HU_NBT2.

https://www.coursehero.com/file/4946...Guide-v101pdf/

Not sure how adept you are in E-sys but I wouldn't recommend this for beginners. Given that you have a 2018 model already, it should be on N or higher so you can just use Feature Installer to enable Fullscreen CarPlay without the need to flash the head unit.

none, there is no reason for you to take that risk.

There's really no difference feature wise, just some bug fixes and minor run time enhancements.

To check the version, press MAP -> OPTION -> then go to position and version and see what letter comes after NBTevo.

If it's N or above, it's much easier just to pay a nominal fee to a vendor to have it enabled through feature installer as opposed to flashing your head unit.

There's always that 1% chance of a failure due to faulty components that age over time so even the dealer will not do it unless there is something that calls for the firmware update.

yes, you're OK, you don't need any updates, it is not worth the risk, your software already support everything you may want to enable.

Yep, that firmware supports Fullscreen via Feature Installer or USB. I'd recommend going with Feature Installer as it works 100% of the time.

Yes, you're good to go. No need to update firmware like others said

another question, lets say in iOS 16, Apple updates their CarPlay. Will the Carplay in the EVO unit get updated as well to the latest version from Apple? Or it's just stuck to whatever version it has now with no way to update it.

thanks.

Any updates on iOS will propagate to the car automatically since CarPlay is merely a mirror of your iPhone.

Is feature installer a third party application or from BMW directly? What is your and the various other vendors who offer the codes for this application’s affiliation? Do codes from one vendor to the next offer different features?

Feature Installer is a third party app.
Codes are all the same, what matters and varies is support/price.

NBT EVO-R

Quick update to this and a question, I used Bimmercode to try and code "fullscreen Carplay" and Bimmercode gives you the disclosure message that says that ONLY EVO-X and EVO-Y will activate fullscreen. I tried any way on EVO-R and it didnt work, only shows blank screen on right side and cant turn off or on "split screen" so I guess that anything earlier than X/Y, will not activate fullscreen Carplay. If i missed something let me know and i can try again.

Coding Apple CarPlay fullscreen is available on NBTevo Version X or above. Below NBTevo_X use feature installer to activate fullscreen.
