I think I'm going to go paint matched. The CF is just too much/too pronounced I think

Does anyone have the part number for the paint matched spoiler? is this the Matt black spoiler that is then painted? I assume it has a smaller Lip then carbon fiber? Thanks so much. Not sure why this is challenging at the dealership

Too bad no one's probably ever going to do an aerodynamic study of the F30 with the spoiler vs. with the front splitter vs. with both - I'd be interested in seeing if those M-Perf parts actually add any performance or are just an aesthetic mod/marketing gimmick.

BMW claims all these parts are wind tunnel tested.

A spoiler is pretty basic, you don't need thousands of of engineering hours to get it right. It should reduce drag and reduce lift at high enough speeds.

Real world its probably like .5 mpg or less and only detectable on the track by an experienced driver.

Reducing lift and creating downforce isn't the same. By reducing lift, the car will never weight more than it did at standstill. With a wing (airfoil), the car weights significantly more than at rest.
+1. A car is shaped like a wing, with the distance from front to back across the top longer than that across the bottom. That will cause lift with sufficient air speed. An airfoil counteracts that lift. In cross-section an airfoil looks like an inverted wing, the distance across the top of the airfoil being shorter than the distance across the bottom. A spoiler works somewhat like an aileron, so it will create some down force, but it also makes the distance across the top of the car even longer, which could increase lift, so it's probably a wash. If it reduced drag enough to give better gas mileage it wouldn't be an option, it would be standard.

Body color (alpine white) or jet black for that contrast look? CF would be great but with the harsh weather it might not be good long term for the CF.

i got my car without any spoilers at first
added rear deck lip spoiler and front splitter
it's a huge visual improvement
especially with the more aggressive M-sport add-ons
so go for it

Initially, my intention was to put a carbon fiber spoiler on it, and turns out that that has to be put on at the dealer. So as I am waiting for my car, I'm now starting to rethink the whole spoiler thing. Looks good without and looks pretty cool with it, but I'm not necessarily going for the fast and furious look ha ha....

Would end up looking something like this minus the pink license plate bracket.

Thoughts? Spoiler or no spoiler...

Hmm. Picture didn't attach
I don't want any spoiler that wasn't installed in the factory.

Got it in finally and installed it this morning. Looks like the car was supposed to come from the factory with it IMO.

These pieces are more often installed at the stateside regional Vehicle Preparation Center.

OP, If you like the look, put it on. No way you are ever going to feel a difference on or off.
