What type of work have you had done under warranty? If you had so much work done I would probably think about maybe getting into something else...

If you have had THAT much that has gone wrong, maybe the best idea is to sell.

don't get me wrong. i love this car, and want to keep it.

my service advisor was able to replace quite a few wear and tear items and I also had the issue where the cooling fan on the M sport stops working so I just had that replaced brakes and rotors all around and I had a rattling issue which has been resolved. and then I had some trim pieces changed out because they were looking like there were going to wear and my service advisor really did a good job with everything.

Interested also in some options on extended warranties as far as cost, type, 3rd party or direct with BMW.

my dealer said that with the BMW warranty there's a $161 diagnostic fee plus a deductible I think 50 or $100... I don't know how I feel about that I feel like they are double dipping, but I guess the technician is actually spending time diagnosing the issue and then taking separate time to fix the issue..... so I think I'm going to have to switch to a good indy.

Then I guess you plan on getting a 3rd party warranty if going with an Indy shop? I think there are pros and cons concerning either warranty whether it's through BMW or a 3rd party. Anyone else have any opinions or experiences?

I bought a BMW "Gold" extended warranty when I purchased my 2013 335i - takes it out to 100K miles or 7 years. $50 copay after the initial 4/50 runs out (March of this year for me). Don't remember exactly how much it cost, but it was somewhere around $2000-$2500 at the time. Got it mainly because of all the electronics on the F-chassis cars, but so far, other than the M-Sport Aux-Cooler issue, I've not had any significant problems. We'll see what the next 3 years brings.

Do they not do a 9 year/100K warranty anymore? I had one on my 2006 wagon and it easily paid for itself.

I don't think there is anymore. When I bought mine, the dealer said the 7yr/100k mile warranty was the max. (at least for BMW's warranty)

they offer it for 8 years up to 100,000 miles. that option was 3100.

so far it's the best warranty you can get for this type of vehicle aftermarket the BMW Platinum warranty is much less time and mileage and cost around 3k. plus it has a deductible and you have to pay a diagnostic fee, even if you get the vehicle repair at the dealership.

So it is 8? I see how it is; my dealer wants rid of me sooner than yours!

Does Gold cover all the Electronics? Supposedly Platinum covers all the Electronics where the Gold doesn't, according to what Dealers say is the difference in the 2.

Had a Route 66 exclusionary warranty through my CU on my E90 335i, loved it. Got lots of use out of it, no deductible, BMW never had issues with claims. Honestly, it was transparent to me as a customer. I dropped my BMW off and got a service loaner exactly as I did during BMW factory warranty. No paperwork, no hassle, no bullshit.

Spent $2400 or so for 5 years/100,000 miles.

Is that 5 years overlaid on your original warranty or added to it for a whopping 9 year of warranty? If the latter, that's wonderful!

Mine does - I bought it explicitly for that purpose, and when I took delivery in March of 2013, it covered everything. You might want to check with another source or do some research.

Five years from the start of the warranty, but only 100,000 total miles. So if you buy it in year four of ownership, you would have nine years of total coverage, but it's not 100,000 miles in addition to whatever is on the car at the time of purchase.

Also, word of advice, if you are buying one of these through your credit union, do so BEFORE the OEM warranty expires, like 500 or 1000 miles before the expiration. It cuts the price drastically.

Route 66 looks real interesting. Although I see some pretty negative reviews posted. One here on B-Post about not covering air conditioning fix.
