Do you use ECO-PRO Mode?

Do you use the ECO-PRO Mode in your car? And if so, how often?

Having had the car for four and a half months now I only used it maybe five times.

It sucks, though it works, more MPG. That's the idea behind it. But it takes away the core of the engine imo. And the fun/power.

So I'm not using it anymore.

Cheers

Same here. Mainly because of the break in period. It's not bad and I actually like it!

Don't have a new 3 series but I have turned it on twice during a test drive so I voted.

I hate the price of gas, so if I buy the car, I will definitely use it on my daily drive to work and on long highway drives. Why not?

Do I use ECO-PRO? Yes, but only if the circumstances are right. E.g. roadworks on the motorway where there are long stretches of 40mph zones.

Do I like ECO-PRO? In a word... 'no'.

I use it when I'm in traffic, in the parking garage, or cruising the freeway; otherwise Sport Mode. It's like Jekyll & Hyde

Only on the highway, where it has an advantage. Around town it doesn't provide me any extra mpg. My commute is 75% city, but I still manage an extra 15-20 miles per tank by using ECO pro on the 25% highway part of the commute.

I use it often when I cruise on autobahn or heavy traffic. I also never turn off start stop. Im used to both now 1 liter of diesel costs like 2.3 dollars here so Eco Pro is a nice feature i think

I am right there with you Robin!

i used the Eco mode only during my ED trip... but since i got the car back.... i even found the Comfort mode to be laggy on the wide and long californian roads!

I use it when I turn out of the 45 mph roads surrounding my neighborhood onto the 25/30 mph roads in my neighborhood.

I'll also put it on during rush hour traffic when I'm boxed in.

I used it once on the highway. It didn't seem to make any difference in gas savings?

Such a love hate feature! I've used it often over the 6k miles I've put on the car. Generally it makes better gas mileage than my normal lead-footedness. The low shift points and retarded pedal input keep me from sprinting from light to light. On the freeway I set the cruise to 75 or lower and let Eco do its best to manage the system. Results are really good. Driving in Eco mode for a tank yields better mileage and more importantly more miles per tank. Sometimes I feel like I'm wasting the capabilities of the car and other times I feel like Eco is just another capability that has its place.

Gripe: I hate that it counts mileage backwards when I drive up hills. I lose the extra miles it records and it annoys the crap out of me. So much so that I switch the display out of the Eco mode counter. Stupid counter!

That being said, Sport mode is where it's at with this car. Can't wait till they finishing tearing up my favorite "alternate route"!

Only on cruise control on the highway, in town it's a waste for me, too much traffic, car is very slow to react.

Same here. Cruising on highway with Eco Pro seems to be a good idea to me; especially if you have speed radars on the road.

I can only base my opinion on the test drive I took. I'll hold my hands up and confess that I did use the Eco Pro to see what the fuss was about.

Around town it was rubbish, really seemed to struggle to get going so it soon got switched off. On the twisty country roads though around where I live it seemed to be ok. On the motorway it was great for cruising but only if you're happy to trundle along with no hurry to be anywhere. On the bright side though it's just a flick of a switch and the engine is noticeably different and you can certainly exploit a gap if one shows up.

Overall, it's a useful feature. It's like anything, it has its place and there are times when you just aren't in a hurry and just want to enjoy journey. For those other times, you still know there are a lot of extra horses straining at the bit and it's a good feeling when you let them have their head

I know it's not fun, but in heavy traffic or residential areas where I drive under 25 it's my go to. Don't need the throttle response so I might as well save fuel.

on the highway, the speed limit for maximum benefit of this mode is 75 mph, I drive at 80 mph on the highway because of speed traps etc and I still get extra mpg for each drive

I would only use it on highway with wide open stretches or maybe backing out of my driveway. Any traffic on the road whatsoever it's sport+ mode and manual shifting.

I prefer sport mode but I use Eco pro all the time. Might as well save the gas so I don't feel guilty when I do get on it.
