Folks,

My 335i Sportline is just about here (should get it this week). Since the revealing of the F30 PPK a month or so ago, I've been interested in getting it (I believe release date is December-ish).

In doing my research, I've noticed that for the e90's, the requirement was to have the S840 option (higher speed limiter). The extra oil cooler was also mentioned, but folks have had it installed without.

Here's my issue. When I ordered the car, I had requested option 840 which is free of charge for my 335i Sportline. I believe my dealer most likely forgot to add it on, as it's not listed in the options ordered on their system. This is a real bummer, but I'm not going to reorder and wait 2 months for that.

So the questions are:

- Is it possible to retrofit option 840? It's more than likely just a software flash that the dealer could do? I've asked them to find out (they weren't sure at the time). Has anybody had this done (on an f30, e90, or otherwise?)

- Do you think it'll be possible to install the PPK on the F30 without option 840? (assuming 840 couldn't be retrofitted). Obviously any answer would be speculative at best, but some of you have a lot of experience with this stuff and previous model BMW's.


FYI: On U.S Sportlines, I believe option 840 is standard, correct? In Canada, it doesn't seem to be....

Even I would love to have some of the above questions answered. I have a 335i base model on order and I really hope I will be able to install the PPK when it comes out later in Dec/Jan

One thing I know is that using coding you can add the S840 option to the car's listing. It does not however change the top speed limiter. I've heard that you can change tires to ones that support higher speeds (y/z rated for example) and the dealership may be able to recode for the 155 mph limiter.
