Rear Suspension Help

so I believe my rear passenger side shock is going so it's time to replace it.

I'm starting to get tired of paying my indy $99hr for simple work that can be a diy. have a couple of questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with before I tackle this diy

vehicle info: 2013 f30 335 w/ adaptive m suspension

1) in short... it seems as simple as taking out the 3 shock mount bolts, the bottom torx screw. support the axle with a jack. take off the shock mount and put on new shock, and install new shock via 3 shock mount bolts and the bottom torx screw
2) I'm getting different part numbers from different sites for a rear shock with adaptive m suspension.... 37126793877 from realoem and 37126852927 from getbmwparts. could someone confirm which is the correct part number?
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=33_1619
https://www.getbmwparts.com/parts/20...iagram=1943585
3) both my front struts were replaced under warranty and the dealer did an alignment after. should I get a rear alignment after replacing the rear shock?

thanks in advance and happy holidays all!

If you're going to do DIY work, I highly suggest downloading ISTA+ from Programming forum. ISTA is the workshop software for BMW/Mini and has documents outlining various repair procedures.

According to RealOEM, 37126793877 is the part # for 335iX. 37126852927 is the part for 335i (RWD). The shocks are likely different to account for weight difference between AWD and RWD.

Attached is rear shock replacement procedure from ISTA and torque specs.

Yes, you should perform an alignment after any suspension work.

I cant help you out on the part numbers, but it is roughly as simple as you described assuming you have done DIYs of a similar level of difficulty before. I swapped out my 2013 Adaptive M springs a couple years back and the big takeaway was that I would never want to do that again without a lift mainly due to the front (which i think is even more difficult on an X-drive). If you have a decent amount of familiarity you should be okay.

The PDF in this thread might be helpful: http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=994489

I rented spring compressors from an autozone and they might be worth having on hand but as I recall they were absolutely necessary for the front springs and I cant remember if the rears just fell right out or if they were still somewhat helpful.
