tint your car in december and get it inspected even if its not due and it'll buy you a year.

both my cars are getting their inspections in december.

im hoping its just a field the person doing the inspection can put in numbers and not actually have to scan the glass.

yea this blows as i wanted to get darker tints... I have someone who will be able to pass me regardless but any one of u guys in the nyc area jus shop around as long as you don't look like a cop and throw an extra bill im sure they'll pass you lol

Perfect timing. I just got my new 340i tinted 30% all around last week and now I may need to get it taken off. At this point I'm just hoping I get my plates and registration before Jan 1 so I can at least get through a year before needing to get rid of them.

Also it seems like almost every other car in the NYC area has illegally tinted windows. It's crazy how so many people can be affected by this. They will be in for a surprise come inspection time if they are not aware of this new law.

This won't be a big deal. So many inspection stations are going to ignore it. There are so many inspection stations in NY, they won't all have cameras setup on the inspections. I guarantee your local gas station inspection guy isn't going to care.

They obviously did it to protect the officers which does make sense.. I know if I were an officer I would feel dodgy approaching a hevily tinted vehicle not knowing if the occupants were armed

its either this or have a policy for when confronting a heavily-tinted vehicle they should get on the bullhorn and ask the occupants to all get out of the car..

All the officers I know have personal vehicles tinted. Unmarked cars are tinted as well. So if they are so afraid of approaching a car. Why have their own tinted? Let's see cuomo roll around in an untinted car.

Well if your point is that officers should follow the law then I'd agree.. I'm for freedom but I can see why they'd want this law if you are an officer.
