maybe a secondary electric turbo
too bad it didnt come sooner

Seeing as the 550i went up about 9% in base price, I see the same happening to the 340i, About $52k base price. That still keeps it a good distance away from the M3, which will also go up in price. I'm reserving judgment on the next 3 and M3/4 series until we see if BMW is going in the right direction. So far, the M550i reviews haven't been as glowing as I wanted. I hope the M340i does better in terms of driving dynamics. The better the M340i is, the better the next M3 will be.

Completely agree with everything... except that BMW doesn't own the Star Wars franchise.

The m550i is virtually identical in price to what the F10 550i xDrive with M-sport package. They just made that the only trim level.

I'm not doubting price will increase but by this logic there will hardly be any price increase

There's too much logic in your logic!

This isn't about packaging and being consistent. This is about marketing and what BMW feels the consumer is willing to pay.

Yes. You can buy a 340 today and add all the MParts. Same as having a M340i without the fancy badge.

They have turned that M logo into a joke anyway. I bet you can buy "M" underwear, for more performance

Maybe an M manicure kit...

I think the lighted M door sills were a pretty good indicator it had jumped the shark.

I'm not bashing sport or M models, just that the letter doesn't mean what is used to mean...

The 440i GC xDrive M-Sport in Canada already pushes more whp/wtq than the article mentions...so I would be surprised if that's all they give the new 340.

BMW has a patent on an electric turbo
its rumored to be on the G20
I would assume it would definitely be paired w/ S58 for the nextgen M3
and in the end we may see it at the top end before it moves down to the G20
but its still speculated for the G20
