happened to me a few times even when there was nothing on the front seat. It came on when i was driving on a highway all of a sudden once. Had to buckle in the passenger seat belt to make the gong go away as i could not stop and restart the car.

I've had a textbook set off the passenger seatbelt gong. Weighs about 5 pounds. A book is a little over the top for sensitivity but a cellphone is way over.

I think its a malfunction, dont believe it has anything to do with weight. At times i put my bag with laptop and documents on the front seat and it does not make the car think seat is occupied. Few times it happened to me, the seat was empty!

Fasten seat belt alarm on a passenger seat
35d 2011
I find it's coming only when it was sunny, not every day and not always. The way I reset the gong is by punching the passenger seat ones. Can I adjust sensor sensitivity? really annoying |

I'll have to grow a pair and change dem dare rules haha All joking aside, I really need to enforce this as I'm responsible for them when behind the wheel plus I could also be fined here in PA for any passenger that is not buckled up! Even my mother refuses to wear it when I take her out to lunch (cough cough) once a year...

As captain of your ship it's potentially a lot worse than that. If you have an accident you can be sued for negligence if a passenger suffers injury or death that can be even partially attributed to not using the seat belt. If you're hit by another driver and someone in your car is injured or killed the degree of liability for the other driver can be reduced if that person wasn't wearing a seat belt.

I sure in hell hope you meant "out of" my ride
There are people out there (and not just a few) that simply refuse to wear them and I know several that are that thick headed, they'll say "screw you then" and ride alone or not show, etc. all over a damn seat belt! Oh well, I'll truly miss those annual lunches with the Parents after informing of this new rule No joke, my own mother won't ride if you require a seat belt so I'm off the hook forever Will send an Uber for her and let them deal with it

The airbags are still going to go off in an accident, the coding simply disables the annoying chime when the passenger seatbelt isn't fastened. Has nothing to do with the airbag.

OP .. do you happen to have a magnet on the back of your phone (for the phone mounts) ? As well, do you leave your NFC enabled or disabled ?
When I first got my car, I experienced some strangeness with my phone setting off the alert..... I seemed to remember turning off NFC or removing the magnet seemed to fix it |
