Finally took delivery of my MY2016 340i, and can confirm that I do NOT have album art when streaming music via BT. I do have it when playing via USB.

Something has to be turned off/disabled causing this, it makes no sense. We have to figure it out somehow.

To add one thing to the convo:

I have HU_ENTRYNAV, and I upgraded the smaller screen to the 8.8" L7 High CID Screen that the tech/nav package brings, still no album art over BT.

What could possibly be the difference between a car with Nav/Tech and one without when referring to BT Album Art??

Kromix, I am on the same boat. Replaced my screen to 8.8 with my HU_ENTRYNAV, activated whatever codes looks possible to turn on BT Album Art but still no luck. USB album arts works fine though. With that big screen it clearly reserves a space to show the Album Art but it is always that dull BT logo during BT streaming.

It seems odd that people without Enhanced Bluetooth are surprised that their car doesn't offer advanced Bluetooth functions. Did you guys not believe that option provided additional functionality? The way I see it; if you stream Bluetooth regularly then pony up for the option or accept a bare-bones experience. Just sayin.

The only difference is an extra microphone. Everything else can be coded. It's not an enhanced Bluetooth function anyway. It has to do with something else.

It's has to be the fact that you guys didn't get nav or the tech pack. Just picked up my wife's 2016 328i with nav and she can stream over Bluetooth and it has album art/artist info for the song playing. She has a iPhone 5s paired.

yup it's definitely the nav. funny part is i miss having nav in my car even though i hardly ever used it. just liked knowing i had the option ahhah album art and bigger screen would have been a plus

I'm actually getting used to plugging my phone in now. You get the album art and it also charges my phone, which is a plus. I know it's not the true wireless experience, but whatever.

same here actually. the car charges so damn fast now too and the cord easily comes through the arm rest so it's not a bad setup at all.

fyi for anyone who comes across this thread later, bmw is making nav standard for my17 so no one will have this problem in due time.

bump. i picked up a 2018 with the Executive Package but no enhanced bluetooth a little over a month ago. album art worked over USB but not over bluetooth. I coded 6NS enhanced bluetooth over the weekend and it still is not working.

Well I have a 2013 with pro navigation NBT, it has Bluetooth and extended display in instrument cluster and all but only album art when playing files from the hard drive or via usb. And it sucks!

For the 2018, I believe you need to code 6NW and not 6NS.

Hmm I'll try it. I was under the impression that the only difference was that 6NW included Wireless Charging, which I don't have or plant to retrofit.

edit: Just to add, everything else works with 6NS (text messages, emails, etc.). Just no album art over bluetooth.

Found this note from shawn, so maybe it will help someone else. Unfortunately, I checked and already had this set to activ and my car still doesn't show album art when streaming through bluetooth. I tried using Google Play Music and the Samsung Music app.

HU_NBT => ENT_BTAS_IAP_COVERART = aktiv

You should always run the latest BT firmware form BMW Update Website, but it does not matter if you do it first or after checking ECU Firmware Level, as it has no impact on it. BT Firmware level is reported via iDrive Menu TX/MX versions.

sorry for Hijack the tread, I just bought a CPO 2014 320i but no way to play music through BT phone (only phone call works). Do I have to update software in order to play the music BT with the phone?

I got same car n year. Should got the 328ix n not jus the 320ix lol but whatever. U feel same way? If not u prolly will but do u have navigation or combox in trunk under floor that lifts up? If so u jus need to code it. Plenty of info here on how to do that.

Hey, just wanted to share my experience here. I have a 330d F30 2013 with NBT with professional nav. The car camed with Bluetooth but no audio stream though. I coded it myself with bimmercode but never managed to have the image covers over Bluetooth. Till a few months ago. The only changes I have done to the list of things to code that you find on the forums was:
3003 TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE > ENT_BTAS_IAP: aktiv
3003 TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE > ENT_BTAS_METADATA: aktiv
3003 TELEFON_TELEMATIK_ONLINE > ENT_BTAS_BROWSING: aktiv

And the one shown in the post of Shawn that already was aktiv,
3000 HMI > ENT_BTAS_IAP_COVERART: aktiv

The result was that after unpairing and pairing again the iPhone with the car I now have the covers over the bt audio streaming and the playlist scroll options just like when I plug the usb cable.

Anyone tested this with Entry/EntryNav? I recall seeing somewhere artwork isn’t supported for this model over BT.

If I get the chance I’ll report back. Usually end up plugging into the USB so there isn’t that BT symbol box.
