340i 6-speed manual just ordered

I'll sadly be saying bye to my 2013 328i 6MT in liquid blue and welcoming the extra torque and cylinders of a custom ordered 340!!!

Specs:
2017 340i Estoril Blue
Oyster Interior w/ Aluminum and blue trim
Manual Transmission
18'' 400M wheels
M Sport
Tech
Cold
CarPlay

Ordered 2016/8/11
Delivery: Mid Oct
Pick Up: Nov 1 (to take advantage of possible holiday rebates- this will be a test of my self-control

)

MSRP is $54,895. Got it down to $51,940 sale price which I am going to further subtract any rebates (loyalty, usaa, etc... TBD).

Sweet! Do you know yet if your are a South Africa build or a German build? I ordered a 340 and its a SA build with scheduled completion of 8/23.

Nice man.. 6MT is definitely the way to go. the wait sucks but it is totally worth it.

By the way, the 340 is the best shifting manual from BMW I've driven.

I think the primary driver of wait time is the build location.

SA builds shipping to USA typically have to take the slow boat around west Africa on a 3 continent 'milk run' and then get here about 4 weeks later than a comparable Munich build.

Not sure if 6MT impacts the start time of the build, but my car took 14 weeks to get to me, about 2 weeks were the actual build - the rest was shipping/PCD queue.

But I love this car. Convinced it is the ideal DD. (Still want another 100HP, but that would still be true if I got another 100HP

)

Update: made in Germany. It's at the port now waiting for a ship.

The wait was only about one week before it started being built. Here is how:

The sales manager showed me their internal system where you can see the dealership allotments in a queue. I originally had it spec'd out as a Mediterranean Blue without M-sport to keep the cost down. The car was way down on the dealer's queue and they told me I would have several weeks to finalize my options should I change my mind on minor things like wheels and tires.

A week went by and I went home and used the bmw site to configure another car. To my surprise, they are offering the 340i with M-sport included in MSRP!! So obviously I went running back to my dealer and changed order plus now I could have the much sportier Estoril!

Here's the interesting part. Once I changed the color the system bubbled me up to near the TOP of the dealer's queue. The manager said they give priority to certain colors. A few days later the car was being built!

Yup because the factory does colors in batches. So you hopped into an earlier build

Awesome! A vessel called the Marvelous Ace moored in Durban a few hours ago, hopefully my car gets on it. This vessel is not going to Germany (as of now anyway) and is scheduled to be in Galveston on 10/14.

Great build. Look like you skipped the adaptive suspension. Good choice. With the 18" wheels, 6 cylinder, manual trans and 704 sport suspension you will have the best driving, sportiest F30 possible. Just ditch the run flats and you will have it all. Nice work! I wish you a speedy delivery, Enjoy!

i placed an order back in March and still waiting...finally started production estimated to be done in October
