I really don't think there's as much problem with lowering and xDrive as some people think. The problem comes from adding camber the wrong way (lca rather than camber plates).
I ran shorter rear bump stops and trimmed the B8 internal bump stops on the front shocks. Before trimming the fronts, I was practically driving around on them all the time. The ride was a little harsh on bumps of any kind. When I got in there, the front bump stops had started to fall apart. After trimming the ride improved greatly over small and large bumps. From reports I read, if you lower less than an inch, you can probably be ok with stock bump stops. But any shorter and it's recommended to have shorter ones to not be in them too much. There's a thread with the exact bump stops and part numbers if you search. If you're sticking with stock shocks, than perhaps keep the lowering less than an inch. If you want more lowering, you'll need shocks too or it won't ride well. The factory shocks will not be able to control the springs well and the lowering will be out of the factory shock range. But that's a general recommendation.
Looks good, good timing and info too. I’m going to cut my b8 bumpstops before install now.

Worthy of noting the user zole earlier in this thread blowing axles is using rwd coilovers which were probably hitting the axle.

Welcome. It's not difficult. Just have to get the nut off the bottom, then you need an Allen wrench, 5mm if I remember correctly, to unscrew the shock body front the shaft. I got an extended Allen wrench to make it easier. Possibly a little heat if it gets stuck. I also added a couple packers to help make sure it didn't bottom out the shaft on bumps. Probably not absolutely necessary, but I'd always rather play it safe.
And that could be true about the rwd shocks. They are longer than the awd shocks. But I haven't had any in hand to compare for my f30. I did put rwd BC coilovers on my e90 xi without any problem. But they didn't extend down and come close to the axle boot.

Thanks, how much did you take off?

I just did it quick and halved mine, figured I’d just see how that goes

Im glad you said something because I didn’t realize like half the shaft was bumpstop

Haha yah, the B8 bump stops are kinda long for a shock with shorter shock bodies and designed to work with lowering springs. I did about what you did.

While I am usually not too interested in aesthetics, this is a very, very, nice looking car!

I have installed H&R Sports on my 2017 F31 diesel xdrive...very nice drop (looks miles better) and noticeably stiffer ride. It is awesome on the highway and through corners but sharp bumps can be nasty if they're more than average size (I have 19" 403Ms and Bridgestone RFTs). I expect that losing the RFTs would help as the sidewalls are so hard but it might also lead to a greater chance of wheel damage. I can't imagine Super Sports on anything but very smooth roads and the impacts on them would be spine crushing based on my experience with the Sports. I have not replaced the stock shocks which may also provide some better insurance against the nastiest of the bumps. Overall I'm quite pleased and it feels more like a BMW should feel IMO. It would be hard to go back to the somewhat sloppy OEM springs.
What was the part number for your springs?
28832-2 from H&R

Any update on how this panned out in the long term?

I would recommend these springs to anyone looking to close up the excessive wheel gap of xDrive without the harshness that can be expected with most aftermarket springs. These are great for a daily driver not being tracked and for locations that do not have the smoothest roads.
I went for the same springs...

Same setup on mine for almost a year. No issues so far. Can't beat it for looks!

Got my fronts in, Millway camber plates, b8s, and Emmanuel design F80 springs. Sits perfect for me and rides so smooth.

I’ll get the rears in tomorrow, don’t mind the dirty wheels

Small update to my setup. Running Forgestars now, 19x8.5 et35 & 19x10 et 41 on 4S Tires. No rubbing or issues. All other suspension parts are oem except sway bar links which are just an OE replacement. I plan on buying OEM ones soon.
