Cic retrofit question
Hello,
My car has HU ENTRY and does not have 6WA , usb port (just aux), digital AC and combox. I bought a cic head unit, 8.8 inch screen, gps antenna and I attached their photos. I want to retrofit this kit without changing my cluster. *Bluetooth is not important I just want to use navi, sports display, dvd and 80 gb storage of cic. 1- Can this kit be installed and codded without any problem? 2- Does this controller works without any problem? ( related to production date and version or cable difference 3- I can replace the hardware myself but I need to find someone who can do codings. Is there anyone who can code my car via remote deskop? 4- My car has rear camera does it work with cic too without any modification? Last edited by kervanoglu; 04-13-2015 at 02:44 PM.. |

It definitely will not be plug and play since you don't have a combox and you're missing a lot of prerequisite hardware for CIC.
1. Navigation will be greyed out as you need a can filter since the FSC codes from head unit will not match your VIN. 2. You do not have a combox so there is no way you can get Bluetooth, not even for basic telephone functions. USB1 will not work. 3. CIC has two USB ports - USB1 goes from the combox back over to the head unit via one of the CAN lines. USB2 is an HSD connection that runs to the glove box - you can probably buy a HSD cable and port on ebay for about USD$60 and you will be able to update maps and load songs to the HDD with this. 4. You will need a GPS antenna if you can get the Nav to work

It's a bit late now but you should of gone for the NBT, it has the combox built in and it would of been dead easy to retrofit + coding. As Aritaurus says you'll missing a chunk functionality and retrofitting that will be a mare. |

You should be ok with the basic kombi, as you can code the ProNav for the basic cluster.
IHMO, I'd cut my losses, sell the CIC and buy the NBT. if I'm not mistaken the MICs, BT, USB & AUX all go into the Combox and then back out again to the Quadlock connector on the CIC. |

My other car has NBT. I know NBT is so much better but I found that cic 1/4 price of NBT and I bought it to retrofit my f30 with hu entry and basic kombi. Even if I buy a combox still the total cost will be less than half of a NBT. I am using himbox hb01 bluetooth car kit and it works great from aux in. Because of that I dont care about BT.

You will need the following
1. a combox 2. a HSD cable to run the arm rest USB to the combox 3. a MOST loop that runs from combox to your CIC 4. a new Bluetooth Antenna assuming you want to at least use it for phone calls 5. some sort of connector block to plug everything into the combox |

The wiring job is going to be a massive PITA though...
1. you need to run CAN high and low lines from somewhere to the combox 2. you need to run MOST cable from combox to CIC (i think it will be very hard to find one that long) 3. you need to run HSD cable from Arm rest USB to combox. 4. I THINK the Aux in arm est runs to the combox. thats going to be huge pain as well |

I investigated all options and while I understand CIC is much cheaper, there is a genuine reason for this. It's a bit of a pig to install.
For the sake of sanity, time, effort and probably long-term; money, I would suggest taking an NBT upgrade route.

I already have someone to do the install and coding so no problem for that. Just want to know what part I have to buy since I have to bring everything for the install.
