Runflat repair kit or space saver option
Hi all,
Has anyone any experience with the foam repair kits for run flats ? Or does anyone carry a space saver in the boot. Is this worth considering to potentially save the punctured tyre so a repair can be more reliable due to not effecting the side wall strength after any continued driving?

I used compressor and goop once I got rid of those evil RFT. Had to use it a couple of times and it was great. Contrary to popular belief here, mechanic don't seem to have a problem with that stuff.

I just picked up my 328d a week and a half ago, so I've been running runflats for a week and a half!! I had a mini cooper before that, but the base model actually comes with a spare and non runflats.
This is all new to me. Currently I have a can of slime and a compressor in the car. |

I'd guess the reason some people decide to abandon the run flats on the first replacement cycle boils down to one thing: performance. Recently, I ran across a guy who has done a lot of tire testing on BMWs. His advice to me (for my 435 M Sport) was to ditch the RF's ASAP and replace them with Michelin Pilot SS's. He said from his experience, it would handle like a whole different car. I figure I'll just pack a small compressor and a can of slime in the trunk in case I get a flat.

Way better car on regular tires imo. BMW recommends them as a safety/weight saving/space saving thing. |
