Can someone confirm that the "base" bumper trim just pulls out? The black part. I've tried tugging pretty hard and it feels like I will take off the whole bumper.

I am trying to go from no line to Luxury. Except for the chrome trim with the plug that goes into the front bumper, I assume no adjustments are necessary?

I went ahead and cancelled my luxury line fog light cover and the finisher so I can get more info before going ahead with this project. Can I not cut the bumper and instead cut the tabs and maybe use a doublesided tape to hold it in place?

You can try that, but the way I did mine I found it to be more practicle.

Since I haven't seen the parts in person, is there something bulky on the backside of the fog covers or the chrome trim that necessitated cutting a part of your bumper as shown in your pics?

I have a base 2014 328i. I wanted to add Luxury line "whiskers" to my front end. The base model has what is pictured in the attached as item 6, but in the write up, it said item 5 is for Lines so I ordered according to the write up. When I realized the error, I got item 5 which is for the Lines (and not the Base) -- in other words, when I ordered 5111725369, which I thought was for Lines, I got what is already on my car, pictured as item 6. They are slightly different with the Lines version flattening out sooner than the Base item and there is a slot in the Lines version (I take that is for the whiskers). Unfortunately, I could not figure out how to adapt either the grille or the whiskers. Got them from ECS Tuning So to directly answer your concern, the Lines bumper is slightly different than the Base

51117281917 and 18 for the fog light grills and the chrome whiskers. I guess you got the part numbers confused and ordered what was already on the car, as you stated. |

An Update.
Well, even after the different lower intake grills (please see above), I discovered that the base 328i (what I have) is slightly different from the lines (Luxury or Sport) -- not just in the pre-made holes for the chrome items to snap into, but in the "slope" of the bottom of the kidney grille bulge. The Lines model slopes out a little more gently than the basic lines. Additionally, I could not figure out how to attach the Luxury "whiskers" to the lower intake grills. Having said that, however, I did add the center chrome strip (part number 51117279700) quite easily. All I did was snap off the plastic ears and use some Dupont heavy duty 2-sided tape that I cut to fit on the back of the piece. Have washed the car, got caught in a heavy rain and have driven several hundred miles and it holding on quite well. Did the same on the rear bumper. Maybe it was me, or maybe had to use the Modern line "whiskers"??

Can someone help me understand why there are three different surrounds (closed, open, partial)? And which one is optimal for 320i?
Thakns!

Any one do this recently? I am trying to get off the fog lamp covers and it seems impossible without taking off the bumper and working from the back of it (I am scared to really pull and damage the bumper).
