BMW Assist w/enhanced BT $650

Since the car that I am getting comes with BMW Assist w/ enhanced Bluetooth, I have no choice to pay for this option. Does anyone like it or not? I personally not a music fan that stream music and I find this accessory is useless for me. This $650 is a waste.

How do you guys like it?

Talking

Hey brother I agree $650 is steep but I like the piece of mind of hands free. I have had it on all my bimmers and it's great. The Bluetooth that is. Last time it was apart of the Premium package but next time I will be ordering it as the $650.00 option. For me I need the bluetooth since I drive alot and talk on the phone.

I believe all f30's have bluetooth calling now even without assist. Assist adds bluetooth streaming of music and the bmw assist service.

That is correct. Bluetooth for calling is standard; A2DP is added with enhanced Bluetooth, which you only need if you want to stream music.

I think there is more value in the 4 years of BMW assist, which will provide for some safety (if you crash, are stranded), vehicle tracking (if your car is stolen), and also allows you to send Google map locations to your car.

Love it and it not out there what exactly what u get but let me try and list it.

no Y cable needed for iPod just use standard usb
better iPod controls with Album art, etc.
bt audio streaming
lower insurance rate because of assist
my bmw remote app
if u have nav you can send destinations to car while on the go
find my car
flash lights, honk horn, lock/unlock
Also with nav u can send destinations from any web browser with google maps
then all the typical emergency features with SOS button
and im sure there are more features but $650 is no money for all what u getting.

My car doesn't have navigation, so does that mean I can't send Google map location to my car right?

Wow.. now i realize there are so many ways to use this feature, BUT I don't have navigation on my car. I guess i can only use for bluetooth streaming only and bmw assist.

So you will only miss out on sending destinations to your car from app or google maps but you can still enjoy that long list and more. to be honest I have yet to try the bluetooth streaming, I bought a 160GB iPod classic and I leave it plugged in the armrest via usb. better interface and album artwork with enhanced usb. plus it pays for itself

Hi ric124,

Any experience with the quality of audio for iPod with the standard usb versus the Y-cable for iPod? I currently use the Y-cable and would like to know if there is any improvement in audio quality with standard usb.

I have enhanced usb so I did not get a Y-cable and I do not see how a Y-cable can provide better quality vs a solid digital signal via usb connection. I love the interface with the iDrive with the usb connection too with album art and all.
