New European Delivery 428i M Sport
Hi all,
So it's been about 10 weeks waiting time since I placed my order to the big day. I will try not to go on too much.... So I live and work in Germany (Nuremberg) I flew in my dad from the UK as I really wanted to experience it with him as this is such a great experience and I don't think we will ever forget it and time is precious, especially when living away from your home country. We were also very kindly driven down by my good friend (and boss) to share the experience. We are always talking about cars and great design (we work in design here in Germany) My original order was for a 425d engine. I like the diesels and driven a 120d coupe' for the last 3 years and has been great. The new engines are even better. However about a month passed and I had second thoughts on the engine and decided to change it to a petrol. I just wanted to try something a bit different and I really wanted to get the sound!!! 8:30 set off to Munich from Nuremberg. Get to the WELT in plenty of time for the factory tour at 11:45. We checked in and got about 30 minutes for a bit of breakfast before the factory tour. We saw the 3 sedan/touring/4 coupe' and M4. The tour was around 3 miles total on foot and the tour guide really knew her stuff! Then we got back from the tour and yep.... Time for a pit stop to re fuel with a great Bavarian spread of food after the great tour and prepare for the museum. We then headed down to the store and I had my key ring engraved (with my lovely girlfriends name) and I picked up some alcontara cleaner for the new interior We then headed over to the museum and was unfortunately running out of time so only had about 40 minutes. Wish We had more time but I guess I I can always go back as I'm pretty close. We then headed over back to the WELT for my handover appointment. As we were walking over the bridge I looked down and could see my car!!!!! Had the plates on it and all ready! It looked pretty special. We were about 2 mins late which feels like two hours on a German schedule as everyone is so punctual here! Which is a GREAT thing to reflect on and be better on I guess..... So we greet our BMW representative which I feel awful as I can't remember his name!!!! I was pretty overwhelmed by the days events and as he introduced himself I guess it just went in one ear and out the other! So bad! So if anyone happens to know from the photos and could let me know that would be great as I would like to write a letter into the WELT with compliments of the experience. So we went down the famous stairs which were described as the best staircase in Munich! We looked over the side and it just looked phenomenal as the turning plate was spinning the car. The lights just looked amazing as they hit the surfacing of the car. The color of the car is awesome too as it looked slightly darker and since bringing the car home it seems to change tone in different lighting conditions. We had a great handover and many features were shown to me in the car which is always nice to do even if you know what is what. Then I was encouraged to do a couple of victory laps! Of which one was a warm up and the other was a drift! Jokes!!! It was really nice though as I was the last handover of the day which was really nice as it was nice and quiet and didn't feel rushed at all. We then headed down the ramp and on our way to Nuremberg. Car drove like a dam! So smooth. I'm going to try and respect the breaking in period and take it easy. I was advised to keep it below 4000rpms for around 2000km. Now that is going to be tough!!!!! I have had all day today with it and when I do put my foot down a little in sport mode it just sounds awesome! And that's just till 3.500rpms. Can't wait to let it really go. I'm booked in to the workshop tomorrow to get on the H&R Sport Springs. Looking forward to it. That said..... I thought the gap between tyres and arches would be more but actually isn't as bad as I thought... I'm almost thinking maybe it would look too low when lowered... Perhaps I'm overthinking it. |

Hi all
Thanks for the kind words!! I just received a call from the workshop saying that he can't fit my H&R sport springs as I have M springs.... I have the adaptive M option on the car.... Never heard of this. Any thing I should know? |

Just returned from the workshop and the problem was that they need a dedicated tool due to the M adaptive suspension.
They said that they could have done it but they would not feel right about it as it wouldn't be perfect. I'm absolutely cool with that and glad they gave me the heads up. Couple of weeks to wait. |

They are Alcantara with a hexagonal pattern running through the center. It comes as standard here in Germany. The leather option is if my memory serves me correctly around 1500euro extra. I prefer the alcantara feel as it doest get hold or super hot and burns your legs on hot days nor gives you a sweaty butt when driving long distance.
I will take some better pictures tomorrow and post them so you can take a look. |

Congrats. Really like the Estoril Blue. Alas, my wife doesn't.
