How are the cupholders?

Yes, I know, such a silly thing to ask about, but I'm getting restless waiting for production to start

How are the cup holders? How do they fit a standard starbucks frappucinno cup or even larger water bottle sizes?

They're good enough imo. The Starbucks 'grande' frap size cups fit easily, same goes for most other cups/bottles

They are a vast improvement over earlier generation spring loaded cup spillers. They hold all but the "super size", I would call it 20oz and under. What is great is that if you don't like them there is a cover to put over them. Great design.

Imo a 335i should have six cupholders and a 328i just four.

Mayor Bloomberg of NYC is in discussions with BMWNA to ensure that all MY13 cars have cup holders compatible with drinks sizes no larger than 16oz...

To this day, I don't know why folks didn't like the e9x cup holders. Do people put uncovered cups of liquid in them and think the liquid isn't going to spill out or something?

Not once in the entire time I've owned my car (bought it new) have I had my cup holders fail to do what they are supposed to do....hold the container I put in them -- Starbucks coffee cups (venti or the aluminum one) or soft drink bottles (Vitamin Water, Gatorade, ginger ale, McDonald's sweet tea or bottled water). The ones in the rear hold containers of a larger size. And I'm a fairly "assertive" driver. (I discovered two engine defects that manifested themselves (1) only when one exceeds 80 mph, and (2) when one floors and holds down the accelerator from a standing start or low speed, but not when already traveling above 45 mph, provided one doesn't downshift to second when flooring it.)

I've seen the cup holders on the F30. They seem like they might not be set far enough away from the control panel to hold containers that flare out as the vertical height increases (McD's sweet tea). Has anyone encountered this problem? I like that my e92 cup holders are unobstructed.

OMG I just Googled and found out this is actually true....

You know, my kids may have to come visit me in jail rather than at home if politicians -- Dems and Reps -- keep making decisions that are rightfully mine to make.

Does that mayor also want to tell us when and where we can fart? I sure hope not because I have half a mind to eat baked beans every day for a week and then go visit his offices every day that week. I'll make sure everyone then thinks he stinks because I sure think his policies of social intervention do.

I couldn't agree more. I have no complaints about my E92 cup holders, especially the fact that I don't have any problem putting tall cups/travel mugs in there. My only complaint is that it's difficult to reach the passenger cup holder from the drivers seat, in the event where I'm picking up multiple drinks for other folks.

Me three. I think the E90 cupholders work, they just look/feel flimsy. Had mine for almost 6 years, used them daily, never had a problem. The F30 cupholders work too but they do sit under the dash. I scrap the dash a bit each time I pull my cup out.

That cover for the F30's cup holder is pretty cheap, they should have use a sliding cover like the 5 series.

I think they are great! I thought there was going to be a problem with larger drinks hitting the control panel, but so far, even the mighty McDonald's sweet tea has not defeated them.

Is your BMW your daily driver? If so, why such abstinence? Did you have your stock carpets replaced with lambs (or nicer) wool? Perhaps you replaced your seat covers with brushed or non-analine coated leather, or perhaps silk, that will stain if you look askance at it?

Over the past 35 years, I've heard many people set this goal for themselves and their car(s), and a noble goal it is to have. I've never known one single person to achieve it with regard to their daily driver.

I see that you, and presumably your car, live in Malaysia, so this may not work you, but I'm going to say it anyway, hoping it helps.

There are literally hundreds of cleaning and coloring agents and appliances that can restore your car to its original condition. Obtaining and using them is not hard. Also, there are myriad people who would like to revive your car to its original condition if you but ask them and agree to pay their not very expensive fees. Lastly there are these things called floor liners that do a fine job of preventing things form touching your carpets.

Some of the best conversations one will ever have occur while one and one's friends are eating and/or drinking something. Don't miss out on that, or make your car an awkward place to be, just because you don't want a pomme frite to fall under the seat or Coke syrup stuck on the console. Don't be reticent to, every three years or so, have your car thoroughly cleaned, and scrubbed, and vacuumed, and fumigated, and sanitized, and whatever else is necessary to restore it to the state that pleases you.

I realize too that food will at times attract various fauna. I've, however, never had any of them find entry to my closed car. Additionally, I'd offer that if you have more small, six and eight legged fauna where you park your car, so many that they do somehow reach the cabin and/or trunk interior, you need an exterminator more than you need a car.

Now this is why I am of the opinion I've shared with you above. I hd just bought a brand new car, and like your, my new car was to be a no eating/drinking/smoking zone. I lived by that dictum; everyone wanted to take somebody else's car on our long sojourns to the the beach or mountains, but that was OK with me.

Then one day, coming home from dinner with my date, she became ill in my car. On another occasion, my aged father couldn't hold it any longer (we're not talking #1 either and the Immodium had yet to do its job.) After both events I needed to do have done those things I mentioned above. And both times, my car came back to me good as new. My car was no longer a restricted area; I was cured of my folly. However, if someone wants to smoke, the windows go down, the sunroof opens and the ventilation system goes off until three minutes worth of driving has occurred after extinguishing the cigarette/cigar/joint/bowl/pipe.

Good luck.

Reminds me of a Chinese video review of the Infinity M, they were testing the air purifier by having someone chain smoke in the car, let the AC running a few minutes and have the non smoking girl sit back in. Apparently it passed their very scientific test

The problem I have worth the old cup holders is that they won't contain a coffee cup drip. I don't know about anyone else's experiences, but the local coffee chain (Tim Hortons) cups sometimes drip.
