I never removed it from the net. Such a design after thought though...

That darn cover would have long found its way to the trash bin but for it's being an original part of the car. I don't see the point of it. You can't put anything in it because eventually you'll need the cup holders. And even if you don't use the cup holders for cups, there's more room in them than there is on that stupid tray.

Now I'll admit that I don't drive an F30, but I did buy one for my son and to be quite honest, the first thing he did was toss the cover in the passenger side door storage bin. He doesn't even want the thing occupying space on his side of the car.

So given how I feel about the tray, I'm sure you can guess what I would think about the net. I say "would think" because quite frankly, I don't even recall having seen such a thing. I guess I'll have to look for it when he returns home with the car for the summer.

I love McDonalds! I can't eat miso-soy glazed sablefish, grilled sirloin and lobster every day. Sometimes I just need a Big Mac and fries.

The cup holders are one of the reasons I never got an E90. The drivers cup holder was so far away and any spillage went all over the dash or carpet. Thank you BMW for putting real cup holders in the F30.

That's a damn shame because I sure could.

  • Lobster omelet for breakfast
  • McDonald's Big Mac and fries at lunch
  • Grilled sirloin with a miso-soy glazed sablefish appetizer for dinner

I'm with you about McDonald's. I don't care what my foodie friends say about it not being this or that. It doesn't have to be this or that; it's McDonanld's, a thing unto itself and unlike any other, and that's all it needs to be.

Reallyl?

I know this woman whom you need to meet. She's a cougar, very hot, works out with a trainer five days a week, enjoys all of life's finer things and is pretty well off at the moment. She likes riding, sailing, skiing, and hiking and backpacking on Madison Ave, Worth Ave and Rodeo Dr.

You and she have very similar discerning tastes. She complained that a screw on the Cartier Love bracelet I gave her got out of alignment and the slot pointed in a different direction on one of screws than it did for all the others. That was six years into the marriage. We never got a seven year itch.

I'd love you to marry her so I can stop paying her alimony.

Ha!

I am serious though. There were three reasons I never got an e90 and stuck with my e46 until the f30:

-the cup holders
-that stupid second hump where they jammed the nav screen
-the nose was too sloped and not bold enough

I mean really, how could I drive a car that didn't have a functioning cup holder??

these cupholders suck. i cant find a perfect 27oz bottle that will fit but not hit the control panel. I had 27oz. stainless eco canteens in my e90 which was perrrrrfeeccttt but now its too tall.

bought a 40oz Primo ss water bottle. nope.
bought a 27oz. blenderbottle sports water bottle. No go.
bought a bodybuilding stainless steel 27oz water bottle. No go.
bought a smaller 18oz. lock&lock stainless steel water bottle. Nope no go

seems like the designers at bmw only wants you to drink fast food sweet drinks and not water. their hell bent on making us fat and diabetic and unecofriendly

I would hope that one of these might fit nicely into the cup holders...

Agreed in that it should retract. I don't find the materials cheap but that its kind of odd to have to take off that cover and store it in the glove box net. Agreed in that it seems like something that should retract...

I will say I do prefer the current arrangement to it always being an open pair of cup holes - that would seem cheap to me.

Is there some secret to removing that cover? It seems like I have to muscle it pretty hard to get it off.

The e90 cupholders were not perfect by any means but they were definitely functioning. I never had a problem with spillage or drinks not fitting.

Not really. It should come off pretty easily.

OK...I can respect the cup holders as being one of several reasons. But I wasn't buying that the cup holders, all by themselves, was what stopped you from buying the car.

IMHO, the F30 cupholders suck unless one puts a half-gallon drink in them. Small bottles and small paper cups slide around in those 2 big holes without rubber inserts, which could have been easily placed there, but somehow they weren't. I had zero complaints about e90 cupholders btw. They worked as a charm.

Just had subway for lunch, got their MEDIUM drink, and it's a TIGHT fit, ^^^^

So, I doubt a large would fit easily...sad that a medium is like 32oz's. I drank something like 60 oz's of diet coke today...will be a productive afternoon

Well, a 32 oz cup is probably ok, but try putting an 8 or 12 oz coffee cup there. I wouldn't. What puzzles me the most is why there is no rubber/plastic inserts in those holders for a better support. Aftermarket maybe?

Do you have a 2012? My 2013 F30 has rubber inserts in the cupholders to keep drinks from sliding around.

Interesting. Can you please post a picture? At least on paper, my F30 is a 2013, built in mid November 2012 in Germany. Took delivery on Dec. 30.
