Not sure but possible answer is you have options that require buttons on the steering wheel and the performance one you ordered is not compatible. eg. sport+ transmission but no flappy paddles on performance steering wheel, or stop/go cruise control that needs additional buttons?

What's your car's configuration? There are multiple wheels listed based on the build:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...=32&fg=95&hl=2 It looks like the configurations are with/without sport wheel and with/without sport automatic trans. I don't see any reference excluding the M Sport, but the ETK may not be updated. |

If there is such a thing as automotive sex, then I think that the M Sport steering wheel would qualify ! It not only looks fantastic, it also feels so sensuous ! I can hardly wait to get my hands on my own M sport wheel !

Maybe it's just BMWs way of telling you that what they gave you is better and you aren't allowed to "downgrade" it :P

Really? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and preferences. Just because it's on the M5 and M6 doesn't mean it's "better". I laugh every time someone tells me my opinion is wrong. No it's not. It's MY opinion.

been down that road...$400-500 for a shop to do it and it won't match the same quality. The cool thing about buying a new wheel is that you have one to sell, meaning net cost is about the same as having a shop do it but you get OEM quality.
Besides...that's not even what I was talking about. Carbon/alcantara dash, e-brake, shifter, steering wheel...all told, over $2k. Add another $1k for the carbon mirrors and spoiler.

M Performance Alcantara Steering Wheel
Hello,
That's very interesting that you were able to swap your M-Package leather steering wheel with an alcantara one. I say that because, after looking through all the literature and scanning many posts, I thought the only alcantara M-Perfomance wheel available was the one shown with the "traditional" ("hexagonish") steering wheel module that comes with the sports, luxury and modern lines. I have a (no line) 335ix on order just finishing production. My only planned mod will be swapping its thin stock steering wheel with the M-Package leather one. Two questions. How does the alcantara one feel like? (I take it you like it better than leather.) Does it feel "weird"? Are you planning on selling the M-Package leather steering wheel that you just swapped? Thanks. Martin- |

Is the M Perf Steering wheel compatible with the heated steering wheel option?
