Can my NBT EVO HU Do ID5/6 ?

EVO HU
HW: 2.3
HB: B142
EC: 111

Date: 37 / 15

Trying to ascertain if it is the version that has enough RAM to successfully run ID5/6. It's currently on ID4 (LCI 340i from Sep 2015).

I also have an ATM Module (Thankfully)

Short answer: no.
Long answer: Your head unit can be flashed to ID5, but since it has older HW it will crash a lot and will be unstable.

We have had many customers ship these to us for bench flashing and we allow them to go through with it provided that they understand that reboots will happen but only when they are using BMW route guidance.

If you're mainly using it for CarPlay after being flashed to ID5/ID6, you will not see any reboots.

I'm interested in CarPlay, but how do I know what head unit version I've got? I tried putting my VIN in at bvzine.com and mdecoder.com, but they don't show head unit

Thanks, this is what I suspected, good for the confirmation!

Think I'll stick with ID4 for now

Change of plan!

Managed to get hold of an EVO HW3.1 unit for a reasonable price, so will be swapping it out.

It should be coming with the firmware installed, but not to my vin. My car fully was updated to the latest i-step around 3 weeks ago.

Questions:

1) Given I already have an EVO in the vehicle stock, how do I go about coding the ID6 unit.
2) I've heard there's component protection on these, but I'm not sure how to bypass it / inject my VIN.
3) Should I back up my FSC codes from the OG unit first, and if so , how ?

1) You can contact us to code it remotely which goes to question 2
2) You will need to temporarily install an emulator so that the anti theft mechanism will not kick in while the VIN is mismatched. Once the unit is properly coded and activated, the emulator will not longer be needed.
3) No, those stay on your original head unit and will continue to work once you reinstall the original HU.
