Touch screen

I dont think I have touchscreen capability.I do have the big screen . Is there a software upgrade that would allow the screen to become touchscreen or is that a total different screen altogether? Forgive me as I am not that tech savy with the electronics of this car but I want to learn. Car is a 2k15 335i Msport

And quite honestly... the touch-functionality is really not essential... have used it 2-3 times... it is not ergonomically convenient, oily fingerprints on screen... and fully redundant through the iDrive controller in the centre console. The only value added is when you want to pan the map or zoom in on a specific location.

It is good to have it, but I wouldn't bother much if not.

Touchscreen is almost useless in IDrive, the controller does a much better job.
However in Apple Carplay, having a touchscreen is so much more convenient.

You said it - "almost"

There are some rare situations when the touchscreen has a value added (example above).

Apple Carplay integration sucks in general. The touchscreen mitigates 5%.

Their product is totally different. It's a 10.25 screen but also an android device.
Their touchscreen function does NOT work under iDrive, only works in Android. The good thing about it aside from giving you android interface is that you don't need to trim your dash or the screen to fit in your car.
