EBII cars are sun worshippers. I feel bad I created such a fuss!

So, just my driver's seat left to fix and I should be a satisfied bunny at last.

Now, what else can I bitch about?

NOTHING !
If mine was the only car with these problems I would be bothered, but as everybody else has the same, they no longer become a problem , they become the norm.
Your rear bumper is normal.
I'm repeating myself I know but most cars' bumpers don't match the body perfectly, that's the norm !
Try to enjoy the car more.
Your happy you have rusting seat frames? Plus you happy its a problem with all models including the 1er?

Must be me...but it makes be very mad they have taken a lot of my money for poor QA and bigger margin

TMP: I am on your page 100%. It also makes me bloody mad.

The more I think of my baggy driver's seat leather, the angrier I get. In fact, I am flipping furious.

Indifferent.
Lets face it who the hell has ever looked under the seats to look at the seat frames before. I doubt that BMW designed the seat frames to rust, it's just a mistake, we all make them, there are thousands of parts on a car, these seat frames have been recognised by BMW as being sub-standard & the fault will be corrected on the latest built cars . Too late for us I hear you say. Too true but how will it affect your ownership of the car ? Don't worry about the surface rust on the seat frames, it truly isn't woth worrying about.
I will only keep the car 3 years. I doubt whether the seat frames will fall apart in that time.
All cars today are built to a lesser standard than cars years ago.
Pro rata cars have more safety features today than years ago, but everything has to be lighter & all manufacturers cut costs today.
I accept the fact that it is wrong that the seat frames are rusting, but I have had far worse on a car than that. Rattles , now those drive me mad !
I'd rather have a rusting seat frame ( which is very difficult to see ) than a rattle any day.
My first BMW was a 316 in 1976 . Now that was a solid, beautifully built car.
£2880 new & a not much depreciation. Those were the days.

In my case, the horribly baggy seat base leather is an utter eyesore which has already raised comments from others. Must I be upset, nay angry, about this? IMO absolutely. Must I get it fixed? Absolutely.

I was going to say, looking at the photos it only looked a different tone because it was reflecting the darker road surface.

Repeating whats already been said, but EBII looks completely different depending on the light. I remember seeing it in the showroom on a 1 series, I actually didnt like the look of it. But take in to account it was indoors under their lights, it looked more of a pale blue.

I'm missing my car actually, not driven it for a few days. Had a massive argument with the fiancee, she doesnt want me to kill myself before the wedding, driving home the other night, I overtook a little convoy of 4 cars on a stretch of A road through the countryside. Effortless, but she thought it was dangerous.

She's right. Smart girl. After the wedding is a different matter. She'll get the house, the car, the best man and everything else worthwhile. She'll obviously miss you.

Is your rear bumper colour match good?

I've not really noticed actually, think that's a good thing. But I will take a photo when I get home tonight. Actually, got some on my phone.

Not the best pictures, but do for now. I was following this thread before regarding the leather, I was going to post pictures, have individual leather so not relevant really and I dont think I have a problem.

I'll try and get a better picture 'when' it's bright outside, which is about an hour at most each day now.

Thanks Deyvy for the pictures. Sorry, can't make out too much by them.

I've already written to Tim Abbott, MD BMW UK, regarding the bumper and baggy seat leather. Gory pictures attached, of course!

Then I get a call form the local BMW Dealer who interestingly inform me that they are now in further discussion with BWCS regarding the seat. It seems they are re-visiting the issue in a slightly different manner in order to instigate a more permanent fix. Maybe the letter has produced a change in tact. We shall see.

And look at this one just delivered in Ireland:

It seems all EBIIs have this problem!

I think I might need my eyes re-tested but to me, that looks fine, there's different tones throughout the entire car but that's just the light reflection!!

I'm no expert but to me that's ok!

This reminds of a line from a film:-

"My father used to say: "The first time someone calls you a horse you punch him on the nose, the second time someone calls you a horse you call him a jerk but the third time someone calls you a horse, well then perhaps it's time to go shopping for a saddle."
