C400 is a big step in the wright direction though. The bimmer is more sportier, the Merc is addressed to older persons |

The US will be getting a C300 (235 hp and 273 lb-ft) and a C400 (329 hp, 354 lb-ft). In any event, this is the variant I'm most interested in:

Imagine a simple 320i AW against a C 300 AMG packet, who would then be the winner ? I also look forward to meet the new C 55 AMG, in coupe version please.... convertible if possible! |

It seems to me that BMW and MB are going for different customers. MB is looking for people that want total luxury, BMW is looking for people that want a sports-luxury sedan.
I feel similar to others, the nav screen on the MB looks totally ridiculous (does on the CLS too), the back looks good, side looks good, but the front is just like the E and S class (and CLS). I can't tell them apart and I don't really care for them, looks droopy, sad and just ugly.

You can blame some of the options choices on the (jaded, in my view) US perception of what luxury is...IOW, the typical US car buyer feels you cannot have a luxury car unless it has leather seats and a sunroof (and lots of other things that are optional in Germany). The US distributors have spent decades declaring BMW, MB, Audi, etc. as premium cars, and as such, we do not see the more economical engine choices (until the EPA applied CAFE more tightly), or the decontented vehicles. People do not seem to realize that in their home country, the selling price for say a BMW 3-series could vary by way over 2:1, based on the interior, engine, transmission, and options choices. Providing those choices in the USA would 'diminish' the luxury persona they've spent decades establishing when you neighbor could be seen in a 5-series that cost less than half what you may be driving. Happens many parts of the world, but not here.
Personally, since I'm fairly tall, and quite long-waisted, I do not like sunroofs. Almost impossible to buy a luxury brand in the USA without one, same with leather where I'm sure, some people living in say Phoenix, would much prefer a really nice quality fabric upholstery. |

I think this time the C-Class has been the best, but very little difference compared to the 3 Series , A4 in the last place.
Reasons : C-Class is novelty of the moment, air suspension and cool design. It also has a very balanced handling. 3 Series has superior handling, sporty design and a wide range of equipment, but it takes an optional air suspension as its competitor. A4 also offers a wide range of equipment, but its design is old need a new generation and an optional air suspension. I think these stylish sport compact sedans and Germans are the top 3 in the world and offer the best you can be in the world. Each car is focused on a different type of client seeking certain outstanding qualities of the various aspects of each. Last edited by Pure; 03-27-2014 at 08:02 AM.. |

Correct it's Fabric / Alcantara Anthracite Hexagon, in the UK it used to be standard on MSport E9X trim but for the F3X it's been replaced by Dakota leather. I believe in most European countries it is standard on MSport Package and Dakota is an additional cost.
Had it on my E91; would of taken the cloth seats over the Dakota, if BMW UK had given us the choice! |
