Little button above bonnet pull opener

Saw a pic earlier and just wanted to know what it does? Any ideas?

It is on all the tourers but not the saloons.
I think you need comfort access on saloons to have it.

The usual thing of trying to justify the extra price of the tourer - by throwing a few free extras on. By the sounds of it.

S'funny, you have to pay extra for features that make the 'Luxury' Line a luxury car

Hence the options list Rob! My understanding was that BMW was a 'luxury' brand until I saw what's missing unless you pay the extra!

Still......Only having until Wednesday for my new baby to arrive now......

BMW is a luxury brand but the 3 series isn't a luxury car ... unless you pay shed loads of money for extra toys

Mmm, I think they should rename the 'Luxury' Line to the 'SE-Plus-One-Or-Two-Bits-But-Be-Prepared-To-Plunder-The-Options-List-If-You-Want-Luxury' Line

I have comfort access on my saloon.
Don't have that button.

Guess it's touring only.

Could be a slight security issue ie if someone broke in and pushed the release button they would then have access to boot. My dad loved Hondas because they had a lockable internal boot release with a key. Is it integrated into deadlocking?

My f10 saloon has this so wasn't a problem when they designed this in 2010

My F10 520d has this button too.
I have been looking more closely at the 3 vs 5 now that I am moving to one and have noticed that the 3 misses a few small bits that the 5 has as standard.
That internal boot release button, speed limiter on cruise control, heated semi electric seats, enhanced bluetooth/usb compatibility, hill hold assist, electric parking brake, storage compartments and seat back pockets are just a few I have noticed.
The 520d really is a great spec for the money but I am looking forward to the handling/performance of the 330d and suppose the 3 series is built down to a lower price point.

Unfortunately it has to be built to the 316d price point so it's not surprising really.

Just to add I have a F31 and I have the button. It open / closes the electric tailgate.
