Small update.
Got a call from Sytner about 5 o'clock. Yes there's a noise from the rear which could be the suspension but we don't know and we don't have another car like yours (ie adaptive suspension) to compare it with. The noise could indicate a fault or it could be normal. Waiting to hear from BMW. Yes there's a noise from the front which could be the steering but we don't know. Waiting to hear from BMW. I appreciate they don't want to throw parts at the car and I'm slightly cheered by the fact they're acknowledging the noises. Trying to stay positive. Shaunguitar, you have a PM. |

An update.
As mentioned elsewhere the steering rack is going on Thursday so that's that. Now as reported on other parts of this forum that may be the root of what I believe to be noisy rear suspension. Vehicle acoustics and all that. Though I doubt it. And because Sytner don't have another car with adaptive suspension they can't do anything about the noise they admit is there. An odd situation to be in. Hence my request for other drivers local to me. I'll also add that even though Shaunguitar and Spacebug got back to me with real names, complete vehicle details, etc and this information was passed on directly to my dealer they chosen not to use it. Thanks anyway guys. |

Look forward to the results on Thursday....hopefully all will be cured.
I don't have adaptive suspension but even though the new rear shock absorber top mounts have solved the knocking problem, I do find the car noisy in general at the rear, noisier than my E90 325i M Sport I had prior to his one. Like a hollow mini boom effect when going over bumps/rippled road surfaces. Having something in boot seems to help. Looking for a suitable heavy duty boot floor mat as I feel this may dampen the resonant noise. I have to say I'm tempted to take mine to my dealer when they have a similar car in to take that out for a drive....see if the noise is the same. These issues make you slightly paranoid.....not right for such a highly rated car. |

Still running perfectly with no suspension noises. Long may it continue.

Update #906 is that there is a "supply problem" with the steering rack and the parts will have to come from Germany. No arrival estimate at this time but a car from BMW offered if this is inconvenient.

Funny you should ask...
Finally picked up the car yesterday. Shock absorber tops and steering rack replaced. The car is better. But I'm going to drive a little more before making a proper judgement. Sytner Sheffield have been superb once again. |

Shocker top mounts seem to have cured mine. I DID think the car was still noisy/boomy from the rear but when i borrowed another M Sport it was actually noisier than mine. I have been out with a few folk now who've commented on how the cabin is so quiet.....like an electric car someone said last week. Ordered a boot liner from BMW too.....might help more. Good that your dealer was spot on.....Lloyd - Colne have been good with me to be fair. |

Sorry to dig up and old thread guys - did all of you get your suspension noises sorted?
I have a new M135i with adaptive suspension and it has exactly the same issue as you all describe in the pages above. A clonking noise which is most noticeable when the front of the car comes down off a speed hump. I have also test drove a M135i with standard suspension and it felt perfect. It is currently in with the dealer and they say they can hear the noise but cannot find the problem. Is it top-mounts that is the issue? Steering rack?

I think the suspension on these cars can be noisy and it's either luck of the draw whether you get a noisy one or if you're tuned in enough to notice.
I was going to post something much longer but mine seems to be settling down now after 5k miles. |

I seem to have a similar problem with the NSR shocker. First of all I thought the back seat was rattling over bumps but it is fixed solid. I will take the contents out of my boot and try again to make sure.
Top mounts sounds about right for the noise I'm hearing. My car is a F31 M-sport with passive suspension. |

Hello Guys,
I drive F30, 328i this is my first dream car. Its pity I have same problem with you and still don't get the solution. There are noise at the front right wheel and clonking at front left wheel. I have been contact by email and face to face with BMW Indonesia but seems they are very slowly to response this issue. I will info this treat to them and hope they take action soon. |

I had a bit of knocking noise on rare occasions when my tyre pressures were 2.5 bar front and rear. Once I changed the fronts to 2.4 bar and the rears to 2.6 bar (as recommended for mixed tyres on my car), there is zero knocking even on the worst bumps. The car rides and handles like a dream.

Hi again,
Just got replied from BMW Indonesia, they said the noise still in tolerance ranges and doesn't influence safety ride. So simple answer but hurt my feeling, I will not buy this brand anymore. I will translate their letter to English, please give some times. and I decide to try to record these noises, even not easy, and you all will judge it is normal sound or not. For your info, I buy this car here USD 86,000 so expensive but after sales service just so so in my opinion. |

The solution i found was to stick the Car into sports mode, stiffens the suspension and happily goes over the bumps without any issue...
Much more comfier than eco or Comfort mode - Weird...

My feeling is it isn't from the suspension - there is a cheap and poorly secured plastic item separating wheel arch from engine bay . I have put the clonking over bumps down to that
