a tyre plug and an air compressor. Or one of those slime kits with an air compressor

side note: does anyone know what's the MAX amp/volt rating the cigarette ports in the 328i?

Do the same thing the M-car guys do - use an M-Mobility kit (available through any dealer) which consists of a nicely-packaged air compressor that plugs in to any of the power ports (trunk, cabin, etc.) and a can of tire sealant. You can augment this with a plugging kit (rubber puncture plugs and an insertion tool). I've had this setup for several years and haven't had to use it yet, but it's nice to have. The alternative is to get AAA insurance (or something similar) and call for a tow to someplace where you can get the tire plugged (or replaced if necessary).

LOL..gotta love these dealers that spew out so much BS. Are you talking about the entire warranty on the car or just maybe warranty related to components related to the tires or suspension?

I can just see how the convo would go..
Dealer: "so, we're going to have to deny warranty on your stereo because of your tires"
Me: "WTF..you're on crack...wth do the tires have to do with it? dumbass"

Changing to non runflats will not void your warranty. However, if your tire blows out, BMW will not tow your car for free as part of roadside assistance.

Get the M mobility kit in case you have a puncture. However, if the damage is really bad and you can't make a seal, you'll have to pay for towing.

They sure will. They're even honoring the wheel and tire insurance. It makes zero difference what tires are on the car. The car is covered.

Thanks guys,

Yeah, decided to do non- runflats - went with the Continental DWS tires. So far so good!

Still deciding if I should hold on to my stock tires and get new rims for them in the summer or just try and sell them.

No, they won't tow.
At least here in Canada they won't.
Already tried...

You Canadians get screwed over on everything. None of the good options, the shitty TPMS, no towing and more. Its because your country is too passive. Its more go with the flow, whereas in the US, its "do it my way or fuck off".

did you happen to buy from BMW Alexandria? I just bought from them and noticed you were from NOVA, curious if they'll give me a hard time as well since I just changed my tires.

Probably also since we're such a small market (comparatively), they don't feel the need to provide us with the same service that you guys get.

I can only find one tire that fits my car, and the ratings are pretty crappy.

No it's not true. You'll be fine.

I use a set of Blizzak's non RFT for the winter months.

EDIT: I see you're a fellow local...hopefully you got rid of your summer rubber by today or don't plan on driving.

Lol call a tow truck.

You can buy a spare tire kit if you're so inclined though (http://www.bimmerzone.com/BMW_Perfor...T-F30-KIT.html) to cover all of your bases.

Or carry around a can of fix-a-flat to give yourself enough time to get somewhere to get your tire replaced.

That's really all you'd need one of the two options above.

In brazil the SA will try raping your ass the moment you step inside the door.

We get no service of any kind, but they will gladly take our money.

I'm going in to get my service interval updated from 3k miles to 5k next week.
I've got the JB4 installed and frankly I don't give a shit if they will void my warranty for the remaining year.
They are completely useless.

I didn't buy from there but I'm local too. I doubt they'll give you trouble. I had service recently with my non RFT winter tires and they didn't care. Tires won't void a warranty, OP's SA was just trying to upsell him on tires directly from the dealer.

EDIT: I bought my car from BMW of Silver Spring from recommendation from a friend so I've been getting the car serviced there. Great folks all around, always courteous, friendly and helpful. Nothing but good things to say about them...just wish they were closer lol.

I got a "Tire Mobility Kit" from Hyundai. Its virtually identical to BMWs and cost about a fifth of the price. Has a compressor and can of sealant. And its in a nice canvas bag that fits perfectly behind the strap on the left side of my GTs cargo area.

That's a great set of tires. I've been using them for my winter setup for the last two winters and they work great for the relatively mild winters in Northern Virginia.

I did buy from them - but decided to get my tires elsewhere. Actual service hasnt ever really been a problem with them. I did speak to the finance guy and he said the warranty will be fine.

Yup! Got some new tires and good to go! Ready for tomorrow's ice and snow too! Actually the last one that came by didnt affect my area so I was lucky.
