If it had e46 hood that goes all the way down between headlights... that would be almost perfect. But the way it is seems like hood/bumper gap is pretty visible

It looks quite nice. It will be interesting to see how the 5-series 'look' works on the F30 proportions. My guess is that it'll be fantastic. I particularly like the look of the new lights (angular top and bottom) which I suspect may form part of the F10 LCI. Sweet.

1. Better visibility to other drivers (since the turn signals are now positioned higher, and also seen from the head-on view; that wasn't the case with the turn indicators located lower, behind front wheel arches). Better visibility is the reason why more & more cars have turn signals in the side mirrors. It's a functionality thing, not the design one. A quite prominent study was made a while ago, proving that. Sure there's no legislation (yet) requiring the carmakers put turn signals in the side mirrors, but they do it anyway. BMW is a little late to this game. But they are catching up now. 2. Family resemblance ... yes, it's less significant than it was in previous (The Bangle's) generation. But far greater then in the pre-Bangle era. Sure some design details & features are shared across the model portfolio, but still there are quite some differences. Even visible to an untrained eye. Still the difference in (exterior design) characters of the core models (7er vs 5er vs 3er vs 1er) are clear & obvious. And even in the cabin - although the main theme is shared. This time is all about the details. General theme is more or less the same, but the main differences are in details. And can still be spotted quite easily. But the resemblance is not as significant as it was in the 90s or even mor in the pre-90s. |

I don't know but it looks very plain and boring to me. It has lost it's aggressive stance. It's so conservative why even change it? So it's probably got more room and that's a plus.

I get the turn signals on the mirrors, but do they have to be so big? LEDs would look a lot better.

I could see why people would be concerned but I highly doubt BMW would do anything drastic to ruin their bread and butter. Some people think the F10 M5 is a disappointment and BMW changed things for the worse but I don't think they would do anything like that to the 3-series. BMW could and will play with other models but I think the 3-series is something that they will play around with and will stay true to it's history.

E90 Second Facelift
Wow, can't believe they are facelifting the E90 twice, rather than bringing out a completely new car.

The current 5 has gotten too big, and the E90 is a bit tight for four. I hope the next 3 has the same wheelbase and interior room as my long gone E39. I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
