The BMW global page has a good comparison viewer of the lights that shows all the light options (Halogen, LED, Adaptive LED):
http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicle...om/design.html

"Adaptive LED headlights are characterized by light distribution that automatically adjusts to the driving speed, dynamically illuminating the road ahead. In addition to indicators and daytime running lights, it includes the Adaptive headlight function with variable city and motorway light distribution, cornering lights, as well as BMW Selective Beam (anti-dazzle high-beam assistant), which automatically switches between the low and high-beam lights. That allows the system to offer optimal road illumination under all conditions."

Cornering lights are really useful, and just another reason to get the lighting package.

Who other than the journalists will review the car if no one buys them? Also, the XE comes out in Spring 2016 if I am not wrong, by which time, BMW would be getting ready to announce the 2017 3 series (although it won't be very different from the 2016, it is still the next years model).

New products keep coming out every day and the next one is always going to be better than the last. This is okay for people who keep lurking around for the next better product and potentially end up not buying anything because each new product has one up over the last, but some of us have our own reasons to buy a certain product at a certain time.

I'm intrigued by the XE, but don't think I'd want to get the first model year of a British-designed new platform with a new engine (the 2L engines at least) from a now Indian/formerly British company with a long history of woefully unreliable vehicles (despite their short history of fairly reliable vehicles).

Now, let the XE percolate for a couple years, and it may become the driver's car in the segment. In the meantime, I'll stick with the company that has defined the segment for decades.

Yall get the 340i and write up your review here. It'll likely replace my e90 335i that I bought back in 07..... 91k miles ago.

How much would I save off the $52,550 you think?

I don't have much experience with ED. Although I was hoping to do one this time, the timing didn't work for me and I ended up ordering for US delivery.

My local CA is the ED Manager at their dealership and he said he could do invoice + $750. I know that ED MSRP is about 7% lower than US MSRP on the base price, but I think you can negotiate further.

If you want to do ED, your $52,550 MSRP for US delivery goes down to $49,395, both numbers include $950 destination charge.

You may want to add $45 to this as destination charge just got hiked to $995 last week. That will put you at $49,440.

I am thinking of either a M235 convertible or now a 340 convertible. Would like to get some numbers figured out. I know that a fully loaded '235 convertible will be less than a 340 vert but curious on how much the delta is.

There wouldn't be a 340 convertible AFAIK. If you are planning on buying a 2016 model, perhaps you mean a 435i convertible or if you are planning on buying a 2017 model (yes, after another year), perhaps you mean a 430i convertible or 440i convertible.

My bad. Looks like I jumped the gun on the LCI convertible and chose the wrong thread to comment.

Sorry

I was quoted a selling price of $56,019 on a vehicle with an MSRP of $59,595. A very much loaded 340i xDrive with MSport. Would also get an additional $1,000 off for participating in Drive for Team USA Event. So $55,019 plus tax and tags. Selling price is 94% of MSRP.

I got $900 over ED invoice for my build after checking with over a dozen dealers with varying results.

Thanks..sounds like a good deal.. did you get your ED date already? If I order in a week or so, when can I expect the ED delivery?

Well you give three dates to your Client Advisor. I'm picking up in late September and got my first choice. The order was placed a week ago. Typically if you're 3 months out your first choice date is a lock, if you're trying to squeeze it in in 45 days you need to be flexible and lucky.

My 2016 340xi with ALL packages and M-line came out to $68k+ (+tax =~$72k). Quickly approaching M3 territory; but decided not to get one of those. Instead I'll be getting the M bolt-on kit when it comes out (or Dinan) to close the gap between the 340i and the M3 some more (and still be cheaper).

You can bolt on all day long and it will never be an M or any closer to it. May close the gap in speed and that is about it...
My M3 build was below $69k, at $500 over the Invoice, the sale price would have been just over $64.5.
However, the 2016 allocations are very limited and getting the 2015 335i for $2300 under the invoice was something I could not pass.

68k for a non-M is crazy.

I plan to test drive the 340i M Sport, but won't be paying more than 52k.
If I was in the market for a 60-70k car, I would be looking at the M3.
