Question Steering Wheel Removal - Prep.

Hi guys - thinking of getting my steering wheel trimmed as I really can't stand the current feel of the OEM one.

Is it just a case of removing them (-) battery terminal in preparation? I feel happy popping the air bag springs and detaching it, but was worried about the air bag light coming on and staying on after. Anything else that needs shutting down?

Thanks!

Which steering wheel do you have? Surely not the M Sport as that is the best steering wheel ever!

Yes, you just need to disconnect the battery. Did this on an E46 and all was fine. Not sure about key codes and memory issues though.

Sorry, can't beleive I missed that info out. My car is a F30 320D ED. The wheel is the multifunction one, however I find it a touch "thin" and "wiry" felling. My previous car was an E92 M3, and had the thicker, softer leather wheel - which for me was spot on.

There is a guy in Bucks, that can pad mine out and add the soft nappa lather for a reasonable cost.

Regards,
